- Ladine Trends – Cascading Curls and Dreads to Inspire
At the height of summer, Ladine has two stunning, seasonal trends. Choose from It's a Curl Thing - shiny, cascading curls with as much length and volume as you desire, or Bantu Rock, a stunningly trendy combination of textures and techniques. ‘It’s a Curl Thing’ The How-To • Start off with a thorough hair analysis and consultation. • Apply Barrier Lotion (includes Carrot Oil) to the hairline and ears for protection caused by the alkalinity of the relaxer service to follow. The relaxer service will be unaffected by this product. • Section the hair off into 4 quadrants. • Commence with a relaxer service using Ladine Relaxertec relaxer for the recommended period of time according to manufacturer’s standards, using the strength suitable for your client (Young & Gentle, Regular or Super). And rinse. • Apply Ladine’s Bio Complex, an intensive protein corrective treatment ideal for post-relaxer services as well as damaged hair. It helps reconstruct the hair after a chemical service, increasing elasticity and strength. Leave-on for 5 minutes and then rinse out. • Follow this with an application of Ladine’s Neutralizing Shampoo to neutralize the alkalinity of the hair. This will also remove all traces of chemicals from the relaxer service that was done. The Neutralizing Shampoo contains Chamomile that refreshes and helps soothe scalp irritation and itching after a chemical service. Repeat with a second cleanse for optimal results. And rinse. • Blow-dry the hair with a small application of Ladine’s Conditioning Blow-Dry Lotion. • Apply extensions and weave into natural hair, if extra length and volume is desired (optional). • Apply Ladine’s Brazil Nut Oil serum to the hair and begin curling the hair, keeping loose waves toward the ends and tighter curls toward the mid-length. • Finish it off with an application of Ladine’s Braids & Weaves At Root Treatment to the hairline and exposed scalp area for added scalp protection and hair vitality. ‘Bantu Rock’ The How-To • Start off with a thorough hair analysis and consultation. • Commence with cleansing clients’ hair with Natural Therapy 4 in 1 Shampoo. Repeat if necessary. And rinse. • After washing the hair, separate the nape and sides into four parts, leaving the top and crown area voluminous. Apply small amounts of Mould Dreads and Shape & Style on the hair that has been sectioned and then gently comb through each section with a Denman brush or a similar brush. • Combing each section through and tying it back up, part each section according to the amount of bantu knots you'd like in each one. • Apply perm rods to the top and crown area. Leave under the hood dryer to set the hair shape. Then remove rods when satisfied. • Apply a small amount of Brazil Nut Oil for added shine on the top and crown area and you are good to go. AFTER - Majirel 4.15 on root area and new 5.15 blended on mid lengths and ends for stunning coolness. Hair by Shelene Shaer “These gorgeous shades all have a coolness to them - they are earthy, stone shades and because balayage is so popular in our salon, we are using a lot of them. Hand painted balayage techniques can produce unwanted warm tones, especially on darker hair, and these shades neutralise warmth to perfection. I am an absolute fan of the Majirel brand. It has fantastic spreadability and it is utterly reliable... all you have to do is measure, and the results are 100% accurate.” Inforcer – Breakage prevention for normal to fragile hair The Serie Expert Inforcer range is innovated with superstar ingredients Biotin and Vitamin B6. While Biotin stimulates fatty acid metabolism to promote healthy hair development, vitamin B6 stimulates protein metabolism to help strengthen the hair fibre. These ingredients are repeated throughout the range, appearing in the Anti-Breakage Shampoo, Strengthening Conditioner and Strengthening Mask, and also in the leave-in products. A fabulous range to turn weak and fragile into strong and fortified, and stop the dreaded breakage! - Lazarous “Loverboy” Sumbane is Dark and Lovely Golden Scissors Winner
Lazarous Sumbane, aka Loverboy, from Tsakane on the East Rand is the winner of the coveted Dark and Lovely Golden Scissors Award 2017. He earned the honours after participating in a competition that tested the finalists’ creativity, technical skill and knowledge of hair through their interpretations of different African Queendoms. Sumbanes’ winning Ashanti inspired hairstyles landed him the grand prize valued at R200 000. As last year’s runner up, he was thrilled to clinch the honours this year. “Without this competition, hairstylists would never challenge themselves to always do better. This is great exposure which is priceless,” he says. “All the finalists learned how to improve their businesses and this allows us to push the boundaries and never stay stagnant”. Hanson Ndabeni, the National Education Manager for Dark and Lovely, who led the panel, said it was “challenging” to pick a winner but that Sumbane’s technical excellence and creative flair set him apart. He said, “It was inspiring to see how Sumbane, who was the runner up in the 2016 Golden Scissors, had developed in the last year”.
