Our Own Shawn Bubb Reports Back on the Goldwell Global Creative Awards in Milan   The recent Goldwell Global Creative Awards  was an unforgettable experience set against the backdrop of the beautiful city of Milan, a hub of fashion and creativity.   The event began with the live competition, where some of the world’s most talented stylists showcased their artistry and innovation. The energy in the room was electric, and it was inspiring to witness so much passion for hairdressing in one space!   Over the next two days, I had the privilege of attending world-class masterclasses presented by international icons in the industry. These sessions were not only educational but also left me feeling deeply inspired to bring new techniques and creativity back to my own work.   Fellowship, Connection, Learning & Inspiration – the Goldwell Community   One of the standout highlights was an exclusive rooftop cocktail party hosted by Goldwell UK . With Milan’s skyline as the backdrop, it was the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow creatives from across the globe in a relaxed and glamorous setting.   The second day continued with more engaging masterclasses, interactive areas, and a hands-on training session, allowing us to dive deeper into trends, techniques, and innovations shaping the future of hair.   The final show was nothing short of spectacular—an artistic performance inspired by the runways and fashion-forward spirit of Milan. The creativity, colour, and precision on display were truly mind-blowing. To end off the event, an amazing after-party brought everyone together to celebrate artistry, passion, and the Goldwell community.   I am truly grateful to Goldwell South Africa  for giving me the opportunity to attend this world-class event. I would like to share my journey on how I achieved my salon - a milestone indeed! I'm Cindy-Ann, owner of Defined Hair by Cindy-Ann .   I started renting a space 4 years ago with 1 bottle of treatment not knowing what God has in store for me, and I have worked very hard to get where I am today.   As years went by, I could not afford to rent a whole space, so I left and rented a chair for a couple of months I prayed to God to give me a space for my clients, and boom! God gave me another space to rent which was cheaper, which I was able to rent for 2 years.   In March this year, I purchased the place that I can now call mine!   It's an endless worry and stress, but it has been a huge milestone for me.   I’m grateful for this amazing opportunity in buying my place where I can renovate to my vision of what I want and make it my own!

The mysterious case of the white-haired killer is an ode to Agatha Christie, and the over stylized adaptations of her work that I grew up on. The Collection evokes feelings of classic murder mystery book covers or 50's film noir posters. The looks were created with a very obvious and cohesive colour story with the goal of showcasing the entirety of the barbering skillset, showcasing different lengths, textures, styling and colour services. Look 1. Featuring 2 models; a midlength pompadour with the nape in an exentuated flick, and a model with half bleached hair inspired by Betty Boop. Look 2. An afro 'crown' sectioned and styled into 5 points, and paired with a high and tight skin fade. Look 3. Features 2 models again, one with a overtoned grown out full scalp bleach and soft textured mohawk, the other with a barrell design on top and finger waves on the side with a blonde money piece front hairline. Look 4. A short smooth "grown out buzz cut' look with checkerboard colour detail. SYZYGY: A conjunction or opposition A collinear configuration of celestial bodies To describe the union of opposite constructs My collection explores the relationship between opposing constructs; the chaos of natural cosmic order and the beauty left in its wake. Drawn from the astrological definition of a syzygy, each image represents the potential outcomes of a catastrophic celestial alignment; tidal waves, eclipses, solar flares, thermal and gravitational phenomena. All natural occurrences that can be both destructive and beautiful at the same time - “Understanding the union between opposing constructs, seeking beauty within the destructive forces of nature on a cosmic level.” Syzygy describes the end of the world, birth of new life and the connection between a pair of opposites. I wanted my collection to be a commentary on looking beyond chaos to find beauty, and to showcase that through hair artistry.
