- Goldwell Announces Colour of the Year 2021: Lilac Aura
Goldwell is proud to announce its annual Colour of the Year for 2021: LILAC AURA. This year, colour trends will see more neutral, grounded tones replacing the bold, pop colours. Fashion tones will change to Nostalgic Brights, inspired by the charming retro colours of the 70s. Orange, Green and Lilac will make a nostalgic comeback. As part of this palette one colour comes forward to make a statement about the upcoming year: Lilac Aura. This electric pastel tone defines 2021 for two reasons. Firstly, it provides comfort by hinting at the nostalgia of previous decades. Secondly, it embodies the digital revolution! Lilac Aura is plucked from the digital world, but retains a familiar quality. This pastel echoes the past but proclaims the future. According to John Moroney, Goldwell’s Global Creative Director, “The moment our team of international artists saw Lilac Aura, they immediately started formulating it with Elumen. The colour has so much commercial potential – it strikes a wonderful balance between soft and flirtatious while giving a calm serenity. It will look great in just about everyone’s hair!” If you would like to see some of the ways that Lilac Aura is used in hair colour, visit the Goldwell Education Plus channel on YouTube and sign up as a subscriber to be notified of all new videos. To create this colour using the fabulous Elumen range, contact 011 312 5070 and a friendly Goldwell sales consultant will get in touch with you and explain more about Goldwell’s amazing colour portfolio.

Dear EOHCB Members & Industry, At present, under the adjusted level 3 regulations, our industry remains in operation and the current personal care sector-specific regulations as published and gazette, 19 June 2020 remains in place and must be adhered to. A significant change in the risk level adjustment to alert level 3 is that; every South African is now responsible to ensure compliance with regards to the wearing of face masks in public places, and no longer does the onus lie only with employers and or business owners but every citizen of the Republic of South Africa. Employers/Business owners must continue to ensure that every employee or member of the public when entering the workplace: • Wears a face mask covering both the nose and mouth at all times; • Social distancing of 1.5 metres is kept and or physical barriers are present; • COVID-19 contact tracing and symptom screening is conducted and recorded before an individual enters the working environment; • An employee or member of the public who presents or experiences any COVID-19 symptoms to remain at home or return home and self-isolate for at least 10 days and seek medical attention; • Only clients being serviced may be inside the workplace and no visitors should be allowed; • Employers/Business owners are to determine the floor space of their premises and calculate the allowable number of individuals inside the workplace per 1.5 square metres. Update: As of 12 January 2021, the national curfew is now in place between the hours of 21h00 – 05h00. All citizens must be confined to their place of residence during these hours. Following Cyril Ramaphosa’s speech last night on 11th January 2021, we are pleased and relieved that the National Coronavirus Command Council has clearly resolved to maintain “business as usual” as far as possible. Among the exceptions are land borders which are now closed, and schools, which will be subject to further discussion with updates given in a few more days. During his speech, the President reiterated that every single one of us must take the protocols seriously – hand washing, wearing a mask correctly at all times in public, and observing social distancing at all times. Please will all salons do their utmost to adhere to these protocols which are set out in detail HERE provided by the EOHCB. Wishing you a safe, healthy January!
- Styles: Woven by Team @ Fatty Arbuckles, Australia
‘Woven’ is a contemporary photographic collection inspired by the diverse mix of ethnic cultures prevalent in our modern society. The six-image collection focuses on the use of varying texture and tone to beautifully depict a raw natural beauty that is both elegantly modern and effortlessly timeless. Explains Creative Director Annette Scaffidi “With this new collection I wanted to creatively illustrate the wide mix of ethnic cultures in our everyday society, and the different ways in which they see and express beauty. Diversity and self-expression really do go hand in hand, and I wanted to show that beauty comes in such varied and equally beautiful looks and styles. Beauty after all is in the eye of the beholder.” The collection took two months to conceptualise, growing organically from initial idea to completed concept. Using a natural earthy colour palette to create the ghostly finished feel, Annette focused on creating intricate hair designs that were complimented by detailed fashion and makeup styling. Each image was created with a very distinct individual esthetic, whilst each tying together with the use of beautifully soft texture and tone. Continues Annette “The overall feel I was wanting to achieve for the collection was a raw textured beauty. Nature, earth, shape, texture and natural tones directed the colour palette throughout the image set, from the hair through to the fashion styling.
