- Creme of Nature and Nomzamo Mbatha Celebrate the Radiance of Textured Hair in Landmark South African Launch
Johanesburg - A new era of textured haircare officially took root in South Africa as Creme of Nature hosted an intimate and inspiring celebration to mark its local launch and announce Nomzamo Mbatha as the brand’s first-ever South African ambassador. Held in Johannesburg, the exclusive event brought together guests to experience the essence of the brand’s powerful new campaign — Rooted in Radiance. Known globally for its deep legacy in textured haircare, Creme of Nature’s expansion into South Africa is more than a market move — it’s a cultural moment. At the heart of this milestone stood actress and humanitarian Nomzamo Mbatha. As she took the stage — radiant and unapologetic — she spoke to the campaign’s powerful message: embracing your roots, your texture, and your truth. “This partnership is not just a personal milestone; it’s a celebration of our collective identity,” said Mbatha. “Creme of Nature understands the richness of our coils, curls and kinks — and the stories they carry. I’m honoured to be part of a campaign that places African beauty at the centre and uplifts women to take pride in their authentic selves.”The evening was orchestrated by award-winning multimedia entrepreneur Pamela Mtanga, whose charisma and presence made for a captivating atmosphere. Another highlight of the night was the unveiling of the first-ever Creme of Nature Squad — a powerful collective of six dynamic content creators, storytellers and advocates for textured hair representation. Together with Nomzamo, these remarkable women are redefining beauty standards and championing a new era of identity-driven storytelling in South Africa. Guests were treated to an immersive brand experience from the moment they arrived. Upon entry, they were welcomed by a striking visual gallery celebrating hair heritage, setting the tone for an evening rooted in culture and self-expression. Interactive elements like braid stations, content booths, and hair quiz games invited attendees to engage directly with the essence of the brand. The experience also offered an introduction to Creme of Nature’s hero collections — the beloved Argan Oil from Morocco and the ultra-nourishing Pure Honey range — both designed to nurture curls, coils, and kinks with care and intention.“With Nomzamo leading the charge, we’re not just launching a product — we’re launching a movement,” said Zandi Zinganto, Brand Manager for Creme of Nature South Africa. “Rooted in Radiance is a tribute to the strength, creativity and self-expression of textured-haired women in South Africa and across the world.” The event space reflected the richness of African identity, adorned with vibrant natural textures, affirming messages, and interactive moments celebrating heritage and hair. From product demonstrations to powerful discussions, guests left feeling seen, celebrated, and inspired to walk boldly in their radiance. The evening culminated in a vibrant entertainment showcase, with live DJ performances from the dynamic Homie.Lover.Friend trio, who serenaded the crowd with genre-blending soundscapes. The energy peaked with a headline set from LeloWhat'sGood, who brought the house down and had guests dancing until the fi nal beat - making it a night to remember!
- Style Inspiration: Tears of the Sea by Joel Ibáñez Maturana
Marine Metamorphosis Tears of the Sea by Joel Ibáñez Maturana is a fascinating creative project that explores the theme of metamorphosis, blending the ethereal beauty of the ocean with the transformative power of artificial intelligence. The collection dives deeply into both the unconscious and the ocean’s depths, presenting a series of avant-garde looks where hair becomes the wings of a mythical marine creature. Creative Concept The central axis of the concept is metamorphosis: human hair ceases to be an extension of identity and transforms into a living, floating, and almost magical structure. Inspired by the undulating and translucent forms of marine fauna, the hair adopts organic silhouettes that appear suspended in water, evoking movement, fluidity, and a hypnotic beauty, as if drifting under ocean currents. Visual Aesthetic The hair comes alive with undulating, translucent, and bioluminescent textures, imitating aquatic species such as Aurelia aurita (moon jellyfish). The hair strands stretch and curve surrealistically, as if responding to invisible currents, giving the images a dreamlike and underwater air.The color palette is dominated by electric and aquatic tones: blues, fluorescent, pearl, and iridescent whites. These colors seem to glow from within, replicating the effect of marine bioluminescence. Styling and Makeup The body becomes a canvas that reflects the ocean, with skin adorned with sparkles emulating the reflection of light underwater. Makeup plays with points of light and transparency, enhancing the features without concealing them. The result is a look that evokes a mythological creature, suspended between fantasy and the ocean’s depths.A notable aspect of this collection is its inclusive approach to beauty. Models were chosen with vitiligo and albinism, giving voice to different skin types and celebrating the full diversity of human beauty. - Wella Color Expert: A Distinguished 9-month Programme to Mastery
In May, participants of the Wella Color Expert Programme concluded their highly challenging 9-month journey. This year, 24 experienced hairstylists from across South Africa participated in Wella’s most advanced educational offering, aiming to gain technical mastery and unleash their creativity. The programme culminated in a final exam where successful candidates demonstrated the highest level of colour expertise within the Wella portfolio, showcasing their technical precision, colour correction proficiency, and creative confidence. Throughout the hybrid learning programme, participants took part in online modules, coaching sessions, and in-person classes where they delved into colour theory and correction. This journey was designed to develop their skills, improve accuracy, and encourage innovation. The highlight of the programme was an intensive 4-day Wella Creative Immersion held at the mhb studio in Midrand, Johannesburg. During this event, participants collaborated in hands-on settings, attended masterclasses with Wella ambassadors, worked on conceptual projects, and formed real connections with their hair industry peers and mentors. The final exam spanned six rigorous days in Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. It included an online test, two written assessments, six comprehensive colour scenarios, a live model challenge, and a headblock task – not for the faint-hearted. This hybrid format of theory and practical application pushed participants to draw from all that they had learned. Congratulations to all who completed the Wella Color Expert programme! It’s where the best became masters of their craft. Wella Color Expert top performers: 1st place: Nerine Helberg 94% 2nd place: Maritza Maritz 91%, Ancois van Niekerk 91% 3rd place: Nikolas Anamourlis 90%, Maré Muller 90% Special recognition is due to Nikolas Anamourlis and Donovan Foti, who have impressively completed the Wella Color Expert programme five times – basically a PhD in hair colour … unofficially, of course! Their dedication continues to set the standard for excellence in the industry. Join Wella Color Expert 2026 For more information on the upcoming Wella Color Expert 2026, please contact Wella Education Manager, Mariska Treurnicht at mariska.r@modernhairbeauty.com .
