On Sunday 1 June mhb welcomed distinguished Kadus Professional customers to a glitz and glamour event at Stardust Nightclub in Woodstock, Cape Town. The much-anticipated event celebrated 15 years of Kadus success in South Africa.

Guests were welcomed by mhb National Sales Manager, Jacques Nortje, and mhb Managing Director, Chris Stofberg. The pair kickstarted the tone of the evening with some serious dance moves and mimed renditions of popular 2010 songs befitting the Kadus era of introduction.

In 2010, Chris and the mhb team identified a need to serve small, independent hair salons in a sustainable and profitable way that served everyone. Kadus, founded by German hairdresser Ludwig Kegel in 1917 who invented the first disinfectant for barber clippers and blades, had long since become a household name in Europe and further afield. With its acquisition by the Wella Group in 1974 Kadus greatly benefitted from advanced research and innovation. In addition, the Kadus ethos underscored what mhb wanted to achieve and the time was right to introduce it to the South African hair industry.

We believe small is the future

We believe the best business is your own

We believe freedom should not come at a price

We believe creativity is born from simplicity

We believe your peers are your best source of inspiration and education.

“Kadus is one of our most successful brands,” said Chris. “It is less complex and more economically priced than any of our other brands, but it is on the same level in terms of quality. Its ability to unlock creativity is world-class.”

Following on from Chris’ comments, Kadus Ambassadors for South Africa, Chad and Leoanne De Lange from The Cottage Salon in Durbanville, took to the stage with a dynamic timeline hair show illustrating Kadus’ creativity over the years. The results were beautiful with many fun elements added.

After a scrumptious three-course meal and complimentary drinks, guests prepared for the highlight of the night, the Kadus Business Awards. Jacques Nortje, on behalf of the entire mhb team thanked all loyal Kadus customers. He followed by awarding four outstanding salons who had outstripped all expectations during 2024 and 2025 respectively.

2024 Kadus Retailer of the Year: Lynne Hair & Beauty, Western Cape.
2024 Kadus Retailer of the Year: Lynne Hair & Beauty, Western Cape.

2024 Kadus Colour Salon of the Year: Hair on Edge, KwaZulu-Natal.

2025 Kadus Retailer of the Year: Rene Marais, Western Cape.
2025 Kadus Retailer of the Year: Rene Marais, Western Cape.
2025 Kadus Colour Salon of the Year: Salon Bellizia, Gauteng.
2025 Kadus Colour Salon of the Year: Salon Bellizia, Gauteng.

Maison Le Must in the Free State received the Loyalty Award for being the first Kadus Professional client when it was launched in June 2010. It was extraordinary to learn that Maison Le Must has placed an order every month since 2010 having never missing a beat! A very well-deserved award.

Three mhb sales team members were awarded for their Outstanding Contribution to the Kadus brand: Terence Vance, Free State, Grant Matthee, Western Cape, and Nico Van Wyngaard, Eastern Cape. Chris singled out the recipients by highlighting their individual journeys with Kadus from the outset and the impact they had made in the trade. “There are many good hair products in the market, but what makes one stand out from the rest will always be the people behind the brand. The relationships our consultants build with their customers and the professional levels of support they provide is what makes all the difference. These three gentlemen have met these criteria and performed above and beyond.” he concluded.

With the formalities over, the evening was brought to a fever pitch by a stunning stage performance from Stardust crew and staff. What followed was a magnificent evening of laughter and happiness.
