- Durban Salons: Students Looking to Work their Hours
Students from The Golden Scissors Academy in Durban have entered the world of Hairdressing and are now looking to work their salon hours on Thursdays and Fridays at a salon that has at least one hairstylist who is Trade Tested. Because these students have embarked on their apprenticeship through Services Seta, salons will not have to pay them for their hours on Thursdays and Fridays as Services Seta will cover this. - NIOXIN #30DayChallenge: 30 Days to Fuller Hair and a Fuller Life
What if your clients could have thicker, fuller hair in 30 days? What if you could offer instant visible results, improved self-image, and a returned zest for life? Studies show* that up to 50% of your salon clients, both men and women, struggle with hair loss. This can be due to several reasons. Genetics, illness, stress, medication, or postpartum hair loss all play a significant factor in hair loss or thinning hair. Further studies show** that thinning hair decreases ‘quality of life’. The decrease in quality of life may present as participating less in social activities, not wanting to be photographed at momentous events, or shying away from situations where hair loss is exposed – even regular salon visits. The prevalence of and sensitivity to this issue has encourage NIOXIN to motivated clients to follow a wholesome lifestyle with healthy habits that assist with maintaining healthy hair. Proper nutrition and regular exercise play a large role in this. And this brings us to the NIOXIN #30DayChallenge! * NIOXIN’s Global Research into hair thinning is based on the data collected from a December 2016 online survey of 4,000 adults conducted by One Poll across 6 markets (Brazil, Canada, Italy, Spain, UK and USA). ** Value Data Kline & Company The NIOXIN #30DayChallenge The #30DayChallenge puts NIOXIN to the test. We challenged social media users who struggle with hair thinning to try the 3D Care System for 30 days. Participants who took up the challenge were tasked with documenting their journey and reporting back after 30 days. Each participant visited a salon for a consultation. They received advice on the 3D System Kit best suited their hair needs. Thereafter, they kept a photo journal of the effects and results of the NIOXIN 3-step regime. The Results Five women recently participated in the #30DayChallenge. All had tried other hair loss remedies previously with mostly unsatisfactory results. None had tried NIOXIN before. Here are the results of their #30DayChallenge with NIOXIN. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Adeline Pillay “I am so honoured to be a part of #30DaysToAFullerLife. Having fuller hair made me feel more confident and happier. I am amazed at the difference Nioxin System 5 has made to my hair and scalp. Both are feeling and looking so much healthier. My hair in the front doesn't look so thin anymore and it looks stronger and thicker. My hair certainly feels smoother and easier to style. I have tried other products before, but they have not worked, and I was so disappointed because I wasted my money. It is so amazing that this NIOXIN shampoo cleanses, removes residues, unclogs follicles and makes my hair and scalp look and feel amazing. Thanks to NIOXIN products, I am smiling and I love showing off my beautiful hair. I would recommend Nioxin products to all who need to have thicker and full hair.” • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Viloshni Naraidu "My Nioxin journey started on the 1 August and I'm currently still using the products. I used Nioxin System 4 for Coloured Hair and Progressed Thinning. For the first time I noticed a visible improvement in the texture, volume and density of my hair. The length also seemed to increase andI feel that I will now need a hair cut more regularly than before! I'm also using less styling products to cover the sparse areas of my head and I am hopeful to see greater improvement with continued use. I would definitely recommend Nioxin to anyone with hair loss." • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Ashley Meehan "I would say it is difficult to see if I have had hair growth, as I have very bad hair loss. But what I can say is that Nioxin has revitalized my hair. When I began with the challenge, my hair had no body and was very straight. However, closer to the middle of the 30 days, I was noticing that my hair was getting its curl back just like when I was a child! Not only do the products smell amazing but my hair was looking so healthy and was feeling great! My hair feels so much healthier and now it isn't so straight and flat as it was in the beginning. I am truly grateful for the experience." • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Mikhaila Prince "For me, this product had pros and cons. The pros were that after washing my hair, the product gave me volume and cleansed my hair thoroughly. I experienced new hair growth along my hair line. There was slightly less hair shedding and a reduction in dry and itchy irritated scalp. I believe in time I will see greater results in terms of thickness and fullness because hair takes time to grow. One adverse effect was that the product dried my hair out slightly. I assume that’s as a result of the sulphate in the product. Also, I couldn’t use the conditioner because it was too heavy on my hair and would lead to my hair becoming oily too quickly. But, for the most part it does seem promising and I think continued use of the product will bring about greater results (which I will be continuing). I appreciated the experience!" • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Soraya Asmal "I faithfully kept to my Nioxin hair regime and it has been a fantastic journey yielding very pleasing results. I started off with sparse, thinning, limp hair and week by week during the journey I noticed new hair growth and my hair looked and felt fuller. 30 days on, my hair is looking great! The shampoo and conditioner has worked its magic, not only leaving my hair squeaky clean, but soft too. The treatment did not leave an oily residue which was great. Overall, I would recommend Nioxin to anyone with thinning hair and bald spots." • • • • • • • • • • • • • • About the NIOXIN System Kits Each 3-part System contains a unique blend of three technologies, formulated to promote scalp health and combat thin hair in both women and men. Trichotin Hair Regenesis is an effective multi-nutrient formulated to prevent hair loss and stimulate healthy hair growth. It also assists in improving scalp conditions and enhancing skin clarity. With hundreds of testimonials from users who have experienced an incredible difference in their hair growth, scalp health, skin health and overall well-being – this is a tried and tested supplement that delivers results! Ask the Experts Q: I own a beauty salon and have noticed that some of my female clients are experiencing hair loss. Should I be recommending a nutritional supplement to them and if so, what sort of ingredients should a good supplement contain and how do they work to improve hair loss? A: Alopecia, the medical term for hair loss, is common in females. This disorder can have severe psychological implications in females. After all, hair is complementary to appearance and regarded as their “crowning glory”. Women are more susceptible to hair loss as a result of hormonal imbalance during pregnancy and menopause. Thyroid dysfunction, stress, iron deficiency, high DHT levels, chemical damage are amongst others causes During the last decade science has advanced significantly. Many forms of hair loss can now be reversed with multi-nutrient supplementation. Nutritional supplements, classified as complimentary medicines can therefore be a potent link to optimal hair condition and extraordinary health. Trichotin Hair Regenesis a product of Fusion Labs develops, corrects the underlying causes of hair loss and subsequently functions to improve follicle health and activity. Trichotin should therefore be an essential treatment in a salon’s range to prevent hair fall and stimulate regrowth. Most clients cannot independently identify the cause of their hair fall. It is therefore best to use Trichotin, the most comprehensive hair supplement that caters to correct all the primary causes of hair loss. Trichotin is also essential as it contains regenerating ingredientsthat revitalises and restores the structure of the hair follicle. This action stimulates regrowth and improves the condition of new hair. As therapists our goal is not only to treat hair loss with products, but also to address the lifestyle factors that contribute to it. Why Your Salon Should Stock Trichotin Hair Regenesis? - Talking Point: Grey or Nay?
One of our leading hairdressers (remaining anonymous for this article) recently posted on social media that not every client can be blonde – and that most people can’t be grey! The fashion trend for grey hair has seen a lot of clients wanting to embrace this look, bleaching and toning their hair and then allowing their natural grey to grow out. However this hairdresser believes that there are few clients who really suit this look and that the majority would look better if they continued with the tint of their choice. She explains that it’s a difficult situation for hairdressers, as it’s a profitable service going grey and a lot of hairstylists will not turn down the income from the services. Also, some clients are set on going grey as they believe it’s fashionable and trendy. However, she warns, “I think a lot of them will look back in ten years and have regrets. Also, the feedback from many of the husbands has not been positive... although they don’t say anything to keep the peace!” Some clients, who already have predominantly grey hair, enjoy going grey and say it saves them time. However those who thought it would be a cheaper option are often surprised that their budget stays the same, as grey requires a lot of toning and the correct maintenance products to keep looking good. Here are her comments on some pictures from the Internet. Photo 1 This is a positive for grey! Her blue eyes suit it and there is a slight dark smudge at the roots ...I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of toner on her hair. • • • • • • • • • • • Photo 2 This woman is beautiful and can carry of the grey .. eye colour and skin tone works .... however, I reckon if we were to guess her age she would actually be about 6 years younger than our guess, so it's a case of because you can doesn't mean you must! • • • • • • • • • • • Photo 3 In my opinion this client would look much better with colour here, even if the white piece in the front was left out and the rest of the head coloured – even if it was to a dark charcoal grey. • • • • • • • • • • • Photo 4 There needs to be more colour play and vibrant colours here to make her look her age .. What do you think? Send your feedback to info@hairnews.co.za or message us on 082 891 8537 – we’d love to hear your opinion on the grey trend and how it has influced your clients!
