- VEAUDRY DISTRIBUTION – Helping Salons Find the Silver Highlight
On Sunday the 18th of June 1815 on the plains of Waterloo, a massive battle was raging, a battle which would determine the entire future of England. It seemed a mere matter of time until General Napoleon won and follow this with an imminent invasion of England. Of course, most people believed all was lost…but a few did not. Those who did not went on to become the richest people in the entire nation. The battle was long and bloody but surprisingly Napoleon lost and England was not invaded. Today, in South Africa the “attack” in the form of the Coronavirus presents us with another “Waterloo” and of course many will re-act out of lack of faith and fear. However, for those few who do not, for those who believe in an eventual rebound and a silver lining; they too will prosper greatly. Let’s be part of the few! Although it is true that there is actually little known about this new challenge ahead of us; there are a few things that we do know and can be pro-active on. Our Health: We are a “people” Industry and therefore everything we do revolves around people. In this regard we are fortunate, having been affected later than many other countries; we have the benefit of hindsight and know which type of measures are most effective. Our own Government has already summarized these. The most obvious is a scrupulous attention to cleanliness both of ourselves, personally, and the workplace along with a delineation of personal space in such places as waiting areas etc. This must not only be done…but it must be seen to be done by our clients. When they see the precautions you are offering they will know that you are a business that is not only serious but is also caring. Our Economy: More than ever it is a time to manage our finances diligently and when it comes to spending we must be as frugal as possible. Although we must carry on with a “business as usual” attitude, this is definitely not the time to overextend ourselves by resorting to credit, only putting ourselves into an unnecessary debt trap. When this is all over we want to enjoy the silver lining and not be working off the worry and the new financial headache that extended credit would bring about. Here are just a few practical ways you can make your business more efficient and more meaningful both for yourself and your clients. • Without resorting to discounting, with its associated negative perception, rather offer your client a free service, -perhaps a complimentary blow-dry, as a way to alleviate the overall bill and show our solidarity. • Wherever possible try to make a small area, or provide articles to cater for children as many mothers will have to have their children with them. • Suggest hair products which offer real value, but may not be in the high priced category of the “big names”. A perfect example is our MUK hair care range of products. Many of our choices are born out of habit, but now, more than ever, is the time for new and innovative thinking. Focus here on the product which is the biggest part of your turnover and the biggest cost to your client. Ask yourself, “Can this be substituted with something new which is more cost effective than the stereotypes but will still offer the same quality and effective hair care that you normally deliver?” Muk will save you up to 60% on your colour, not to mention save you on the amount of stock that you need to carry as it is a Hybrid 6 in 1 colour. This means you only need one tube of colour to replace 6 of your current tubes.. what does this mean? Less stock holding, more cash flow for you, perfect colour matching when you use the same tube of colour mixed with the correct developer, making it a permanent colour for the root application and simply changing the developer turning the exact shade of colour into a semi- permanent colour to match the ends perfectly to the roots. It is that simple and easy to use! It may be daunting to change the habits of a lifetime…but it may also be surprisingly beneficial to you, and your client especially in our current times where saving money is crucial. These are only a few examples of how we can keep our industry going well through these tough times and shielded from the negative influences of the present situation. Together we will not only meet the challenge ahead but happily participate in its associated silver lining…or in our case, its “Silver Highlight!” To book a MUK playdate (either in person or digital) please feel free to email info@mukhair.co.za To book a VEAUDRY Demo (either in person or digital) please feel free to email info@veaudry.com Contact details: Tel: 011 465 4370 | Web: www.mukhair.co.za | www.veaudry.com GET SOCIAL WITH MUK Facebook | Instagram GET SOCIAL WITH VEAUDRY Facebook | Instagram You might also enjoy... - 10 Tips on How to Care for Coloured Hair
This article was originally posted on the Wella blog. You’ve created your client’s hair colour of dreams. Next on the agenda is keeping their perfect colour on lock for as long as possible, while ensuring hair feels healthy and looks glossy. From advising on the best shampoo for colour-treated hair to in-salon treatments, give your clients a lesson in how to care for coloured hair like a pro at home. 1. Apply a weekly hair mask The key to maintaining even, glowing hair colour starts with well-conditioned, nourished locks. Like using a weekly treatment in a skincare regimen, hair masks and conditioners are essential for keeping your client’s locks healthy and their colour vibrant. After washing with their go-to colour-locking shampoo, recommend they work a conditioner for colour treated hair through mid-lengths to ends to revive colour and shine. For a deeper conditioning treatment once a week, apply INVIGO Brilliance Vibrant Color Mask to sensitised areas and stressed-out ends, which will help to intensely strengthen and smooth. 2. Wash Hair Less Often It may sound obvious, but the more your client washes their hair, the quicker colour molecules will fade. Whenever hair gets wet, each individual strand swells and a small amount of colour pigment seeps out, which is why extending the washing cycle is a must to keep their hair looking fresh. Recommend they lather up their hair less often and add EIMI Dry Me dry shampoo to their kit; a refreshing mist that keeps hair looking and feeling clean in between washes. 3. Protect from root to tip Did you know? Aside from tanning your skin, the sun can also lighten and fade your hair shade. To protect colour in the sun, spritz INVIGO Brilliance Miracle BB Spray onto damp or dry hair. The shade-saving formula contains vitamin B5 to promote strong, healthy hair, while blocking the sun from fading their colour - perfect for packing on holidays or spritzing into hair during the hotter summer months. 4. Give regular trims To achieve the most even-toned, healthy-looking colour possible, book your client in for regular trims alongside their colour appointments. Split ends create a dry, sensitised base for hair dye, meaning the colour may not absorb into hair properly or penetrate deep enough. Keeping ends freshly trimmed means a healthier hair base for their shade of the moment. 5. Be gentle with heat When it comes to heat, be gentle on hair. Whether blow drying, curling or straightening, heat can cause hair to become sensitised, resulting in a dry, unmanageable texture. In terms of hair colour, this can leave that signature shade looking flat and dull, as colour always looks at its best on shiny, healthy hair. EIMI Thermal Image heat protectant spray will safe-guard hair from heat while smoothing the cuticle with a two-phase system: first by protecting, second by nourishing. You can also encourage your client to embrace their natural texture by skipping heat and allowing hair to air dry, scrunching EIMI Ocean Spritz through mid-lengths to ends to boost a natural wave. 6. Prep for colour Are they ready for their next appointment? Ask your client to use a clarifying shampoo a few days before heading to the salon to remove all residue ahead of their colour treatment. We’d recommend clients don’t wash their hair the day of the appointment, as natural sebum oils will help to protect the scalp during the colouring process. INVIGO Aqua Pure Purifying Shampoo will leave locks fresh, clean and prepped for their new shade. 7. Opt for WellaPlex If your client’s hair is sensitised, opt for applying Wellaplex– especially if you’re planning to do any lightening on hair. It will create a healthy-looking finish to any hair type. The smart formula helps to reduce damage and add strength to every strand by reinforcing the hair bonds from within. Wellaplex is recommended with all lightening services to reduce damage. If your client’s hair happens to be damaged from previous colour appointments, you can also use Wellaplex mixed with hair dye. 8. How to care for blonde hair colour Whether they’ve gone for a rich caramel blonde or ice white blonde, INVIGO Blonde Recharge Conditioner is available in a warm or cool formula to revive your client’s shade at home. Advise they use this colour-depositing conditioner once a week to keep blonde looking fresh in between appointments. 9. How to care for brown hair colour Over-processed coloured hair can often appear dull a few weeks after a salon visit due to daily washing and environmental aggressors. Add an extra glow to rich brunettes and classic dark shades with a glossing treatment. Book your client an appointment in between colour visits to add shine and refresh their colour in one. Mix up a hint of their shade of Koleston Perfect with Welloxon Perfect and INVIGO Colour Service Post Colour Treatmentto get that gloss on lock. 10. How to care for red hair colour Gloss gloss gloss….Too keep your clients red locks vibrant and full of life we recommend glossing services for in between colour services. This will add extra glow to fiery reds. This is an easy way to add shine and refresh colour without having long visits to the salon. Use Koleston Perfect ME+, Illumina ,or you can even offer your clients a Chrystal Glossing using Colour Touch. Follow us Instagram | Facebook Want to become a stockist? - Special Mailer: Barbering, Beards and Men’s Grooming
A groomed, sharp and trendy appearance has become a must-have for male clients, and barbering is booming, with barbers becoming sought-after staff both in barbershops and salons. More and more salons are setting apart a barbering area within their shop – whether it’s a sectioned off space, or just two chairs with a different decor and feel. Along with the surge of popularity in men’s grooming, has come the importance of men’s products. Having a range that appeals to gents and which will allow them to better manage their hair and beard is essential. This can make a huge difference to clients, and of course to the salon’s turnover. In this mailer, we have interviewed a number of SA barbering icons who have highlighted some of the most important trends. We have shone the spotlight on must-have products and exclusive men’s ranges, and of course the all-important topic of hair loss. Today's challenging times have led to a resurgence in the awareness and importance of hygiene - a topic that should always take front and centre stage in barber shops and men's salons, where blades make frequent contact with skin. Disinfect all equipment visibly and regularly after each client. With the additional challenge of the coronavirus, take extra precautions such as having hand sanitizer available for clients, using a new and freshly sanitised cape and towel for every client (disposable towels if possible), making use of face masks for staff, and sanitising all salon surfaces such as counters, door handles etc. at least twice hourly. We hope you enjoy this read and that it helps your salon do better business with men’s clients, and become a destination where men can source their every hair need.
