  • In One Week’s Time, You Can Change Your Life and Start an Onboard Career

Sign Up Today for the July Training, Be Aboard a Cruise Ship by August Training for cruise ship placements is restarting in South Africa, with the first intake in July, next week! This means that if you are signed up for an onboard contract now, and attend training in July, you could be aboard a cruise ship and starting your new adventure by August 2022. Opportunities for travel and adventure await you! Demand for cruise ship hairstylists is at an all-time high as the cruise ships begin sailing again. This is your chance to change your life and career for the better! Recruitment Manager Daniella Diem: “Once you have worked onboard, you can literally work in any salon around the world, and will be sought-after by employers; completing a cruise ship contract is your passport to your dream job and a huge asset to your CV. The majority of hairstylists end up doing more than one contract on board ship and after you have done three or more, you can also apply to work at head office, move into recruitment, or else progress to managing an onboard salon or spa”. Hairdressers are in huge demand for the luxury spas on board these amazing ships. It’s so easy and convenient for you to complete the two-week course and be assigned to a ship, to start your career adventure. The training is designed for qualified hairdressers. This intensive and inspiring training course is designed to equip you with the skills and services that you will need to excel on board. Hairdressers of any age over 18 years can work on board – there are no upper age limits, and you will be assigned to a ship that suits you. • • • • • • • • Recruitment Manager Nadine Brits: “A nine month contract on board is the equivalent of two years’ experience on land. It is internationally recognised experience and London Wellness is known and respected worldwide. Cruise ship hairdressers are very sought after in salons”. What does the cruise ship training involve? After a qualified hairdresser has been accepted to work on the onboard spas, the 2-week training session empowers you with the specialised knowledge you need to work successfully in your new onboard spa, where you can be placed straight after your training is done! Doing your 2-week training in South Africa means that it is a quicker, easier process to start your onboard contract • • • • • • • • Former Cruise ship Stylist Rene Ferreira: “There are so many perks: working with ever-changing views, meeting the most amazing people and creating memories that you will treasure forever, and of course, making money! Working on board taught me to work as a team, to work hard and get rewarded for it. This has helped me so much - not only as a person but also in my business today. One of the most important has been definitely to savour life moments!” Life on board is amazing fun. You meet new clients every week, work in an incredible, luxury spa with top class products, and have the opportunity to earn seriously good money in tax-free dollars. Your meals and accommodation are all paid for and hairdressers can enjoy many of the onboard activities at certain times. From the movie house to the shows to the restaurants and the crew bar – life on board is an adventure where you will make friends from all over the world. Each week you get one and a half days off, which are always port days, meaning that you can leave the ship and explore the fabulous cities, seeing the sights and creating lifelong memories. A contract is 9 months in duration and many hairdressers sign up for a second, third or fourth contract as they enjoy the life so much. You will accumulate a significant nestegg of money with very few expenses, and you will gain experience on your CV that is sought after and opens doors all over the world. Doing a cruise ship contract supercharges your career and will propel you to success, opening doors in the future and making you a stronger, more capable, more versatile professional! Sign up today for your confidential interview and a recruitment consultant will be in touch to answer any of your questions and take this forward! Sign up today and change your life by August! • Q&A on Cruise Ship Hairdressing with Recruitment Manager Nadine Brits

Recruitment manager Nadine Brits explains more about the training, earnings, and hours of work on board ship, as well as the value of the work experience. Q: What does the Onboard Spa training programme include? A: It’s basically a 3-month programme condensed into 10 intensive days where you learn everything you need to succeed at sea, training on many different treatments and services. You also learn how to open up a service with your guest, with a great consultation. Q: What qualifications do you need to apply? A: You need your Level 2 and 3, as well as some experience. Having your Trade Test is a bonus but if you are still working towards your Trade Test, your time on board ship counts towards your working hours. Q: What hours do you work on board? A: You will work maximum a 14 hour shift, which includes two hour-long breaks for lunch and dinner. You get one and a half days off per week and on your full day off, which is a port day, you can go and have an amazing outing for the day. Q: What are the working days like? A: The days are divided into port days and sea days. On sea days, the ship sails all day long and there is usually a formal evening with the captain, so the salon is very busy and you will probably do a few formal hairdos. Port days are more relaxed, so there is a slower pace in the salon but still great money to be earned. It’s a very different environment from a salon as you have new guests every week, rather than ongoing regular clients. Q: What are the average earnings? On average, cruise ship hairstylists earn between R20,000 and R40,000 per month – this is tax-free, and you obviously have no rent, transport or food bills to pay as all meals are included on board. Q: What is the value of the experience you gain? A: A nine month contract on board is the equivalent of two years’ experience on land. It is internationally recognised experience and Steiner is known and respected worldwide. Cruise ship hairdressers are very sought after in salons. • Play to Discover. Play to Learn. Play to Create

On an uncharacteristically hot day in late May a large crowd of salon owners and hair stylists gathered at the lavish Hotel Sky Infinity Lounge in downtown Cape Town for a first-since-2020 Kadus Professional Colour Seminar. The mood was electric on the 26th floor as industry friends and acquaintances mingled. Not even the uninterrupted 360-degree views could compete with the joy of being together once again. The sold-out seminar was hosted by Modern Hair & Beauty (MHB) and kicked off a nationwide tour celebrating 11 new Kadus shades in the Prismatic and Perfect Nudes Collections. “We are very excited to be able to put this on today and it’s lovely to see stylists outside of the salon,” said Elizma Crous MHB National Education Manager. “Our online courses had a definite place in the last two years, but the type of education and training style we prefer is interactive. A Look & Learn, hands-on event is where we want to be. It’s what we are all about.” Kadus colour expert and educator Jonathan Jordaan of Dash Hair in Blaauwberg fired off the seminar with a message to everyone, “Play. Play to discover. Play to learn. Play to create.” He added, “In the run-up to today’s seminar I have really enjoyed playing with the new shades, especially from a blonding perspective. I love a cool/warm combination because it works for any skin tone and the Perfect Nudes Collection does just that. It works exceptionally well for all skintones. The thing with Nudes, besides using each tone separately, is building up using three shades lighter or three shades darker than the client’s skintone, just like make-up contouring. And Nudes is perfect for that sort of creativity. So, play … and create.” Jonathan was joined on stage by guest artist and creative colour and cutting expert Chad de Lange of The Cottage Hair in Durbanville. “We’ve spent a week playing with Prismatic and Perfect Nudes in the salon. It’s incredible. I don’t need to compromise to get results. We’ve prepped today’s models and done some pre-lightening with LightPlex, and I’m very excited to do the live and present the final look. Prismatic really does deliver in one shade!” A word from salon owners and stylists Leilani Botha of Salon Fusion in Langebaan was excited to attend after a long hiatus. “So much has happened in two years and I am excited to see the new products and new packaging. But I am just as excited to rub shoulders with everyone here today. I learn so much at seminars and workshops just from speaking to other stylists.” Veteran Kadus client Lynne Maritz of Lynne #1 in Brackenfell never misses a Kadus event if she can help it. “I think it’s important to know what your products can do for you, and I like to keep up to date. I take the knowledge back to the salon to ensure that I always have happy clients.” Jo-Anne Janneke from Hair Dot Com and Natalia Ressouw from Hair Day travelled together from Hermanus. Jo-Anne, who has been a stylist for more than 20 years, purposefully did not peek at anything online, “I want to be delighted and surprised today,” she grinned. Jo-Anne and Natalia agree that living in a small town has its perks, but new information is not always easy to come by. “We are here to find out about new techniques and trends and to keep ourselves up to date with new developments in the industry,” said Natalia. Lisa Louw of Lisa Hair & Make up in Bellville has been a Kadus client since she opened in 2018. “I follow Kadus Professional online, so I have a fairly good idea of what to expect today. I am very keen to stock the new shades in my salon.” Maybert Watkins and Jane Jonathan have used Kadus in their salon for 12 years. Maybert and Jayne’s in Athlone services clients from young to old, from trendy to traditional. Jane holds a Master Color Expert (MCE)* certification and has this to say, “It’s something that every stylist should do, regardless of the colour brand they use. I can’t emphasize it enough. It puts you on another level. It gives you the courage to create things you never would have thought of doing before.” Kadus Professional was founded to specifically provide small salons and independent hairstylists with a comprehensive range of affordable, world-class hair products that assist in expressing creativity while steadily delivering excellent results. Kadus products and services will exceed your expectations without breaking the bank! *MCE training uses the Wella Professionals international numbering system. Kadus Professional uses the same system allowing colourists the opportunity to easily apply their knowledge to both brands.
