Play to Discover. Play to Learn. Play to Create

On an uncharacteristically hot day in late May a large crowd of salon owners and hair stylists gathered at the lavish Hotel Sky Infinity Lounge in downtown Cape Town for a first-since-2020 Kadus Professional Colour Seminar. The mood was electric on the 26th floor as industry friends and acquaintances mingled. Not even the uninterrupted 360-degree views could compete with the joy of being together once again. The sold-out seminar was hosted by Modern Hair & Beauty (MHB) and kicked off a nationwide tour celebrating 11 new Kadus shades in the Prismatic and Perfect Nudes Collections.

“We are very excited to be able to put this on today and it’s lovely to see stylists outside of the salon,” said Elizma Crous MHB National Education Manager. “Our online courses had a definite place in the last two years, but the type of education and training style we prefer is interactive. A Look & Learn, hands-on event is where we want to be. It’s what we are all about.”

Kadus colour expert and educator Jonathan Jordaan of Dash Hair in Blaauwberg fired off the seminar with a message to everyone, “Play. Play to discover. Play to learn. Play to create.”

He added, “In the run-up to today’s seminar I have really enjoyed playing with the new shades, especially from a blonding perspective. I love a cool/warm combination because it works for any skin tone and the Perfect Nudes Collection does just that. It works exceptionally well for all skintones. The thing with Nudes, besides using each tone separately, is building up using three shades lighter or three shades darker than the client’s skintone, just like make-up contouring. And Nudes is perfect for that sort of creativity. So, play … and create.”

Jonathan was joined on stage by guest artist and creative colour and cutting expert Chad de Lange of The Cottage Hair in Durbanville. “We’ve spent a week playing with Prismatic and Perfect Nudes in the salon. It’s incredible. I don’t need to compromise to get results. We’ve prepped today’s models and done some pre-lightening with LightPlex, and I’m very excited to do the live and present the final look. Prismatic really does deliver in one shade!”

A word from salon owners and stylists

Leilani Botha of Salon Fusion in Langebaan was excited to attend after a long hiatus. “So much has happened in two years and I am excited to see the new products and new packaging. But I am just as excited to rub shoulders with everyone here today. I learn so much at seminars and workshops just from speaking to other stylists.”

Veteran Kadus client Lynne Maritz of Lynne #1 in Brackenfell never misses a Kadus event if she can help it. “I think it’s important to know what your products can do for you, and I like to keep up to date. I take the knowledge back to the salon to ensure that I always have happy clients.”

Jo-Anne Janneke from Hair Dot Com and Natalia Ressouw from Hair Day travelled together from Hermanus. Jo-Anne, who has been a stylist for more than 20 years, purposefully did not peek at anything online, “I want to be delighted and surprised today,” she grinned. Jo-Anne and Natalia agree that living in a small town has its perks, but new information is not always easy to come by. “We are here to find out about new techniques and trends and to keep ourselves up to date with new developments in the industry,” said Natalia.

Lisa Louw of Lisa Hair & Make up in Bellville has been a Kadus client since she opened in 2018. “I follow Kadus Professional online, so I have a fairly good idea of what to expect today. I am very keen to stock the new shades in my salon.”

Maybert Watkins and Jane Jonathan have used Kadus in their salon for 12 years. Maybert and Jayne’s in Athlone services clients from young to old, from trendy to traditional. Jane holds a Master Color Expert (MCE)* certification and has this to say, “It’s something that every stylist should do, regardless of the colour brand they use. I can’t emphasize it enough. It puts you on another level. It gives you the courage to create things you never would have thought of doing before.”

Kadus Professional was founded to specifically provide small salons and independent hairstylists with a comprehensive range of affordable, world-class hair products that assist in expressing creativity while steadily delivering excellent results. Kadus products and services will exceed your expectations without breaking the bank!

*MCE training uses the Wella Professionals international numbering system. Kadus Professional uses the same system allowing colourists the opportunity to easily apply their knowledge to both brands.
