- Local Inspiration from Reon da Costa at Tosca Salon
The Perfect "Teddy Bear Blonde" by Reon da Costa from Tosca Salon. Click the image below to view the Instagram post. I started this service by sectioning her hair, following a 'Diamond' layout. I used my version of "Airtouched Balayage" and blew all the short & medium hair out of my slices, allowing me to lighten only the longer, remaining strands. I isolated them in foil for heat insulation. We kept her roots natural to allow her a seamless, blended grow-out Lightened using @mukhaircaresa MPlex Lightner with 20 Volume (1:1). Toned using @mukhaircaresa 7.73 & 7.32 (1:1) with Hybrid Lotion and Converter (1:1:1). I administered the full @addmino18 hair reborn treatment system, starting with their pre-chemical elixer and finishing it with their leave in treatment. As a damage precaution, we also added @brazilianbondbuilder to the lightner formula. ♻️ Styled using my @veaudryglobal compact hairdryer and Colossal straightener. - EOHCB: The Importance of Business Compliance for Small Businesses
Effective business management and compliance are critical for the success and sustainability of small establishments. These small businesses, which often form the backbone of local economies, face unique challenges and opportunities. Navigating the difficulties of management while ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory standards requires a balanced approach that integrates strategic planning, operational efficiency, and rigorous compliance measures. A basic initial step toward compliance is understanding the specific regulations that apply to your business. These regulations can vary greatly depending on the industry, location, and nature of the business. Common areas of compliance include employment laws, health, and safety standards, and environmental regulations. Our industry is governed by the main collective agreement which can be found on the website of the National Bargaining Council for Hairdressing, Cosmetology, Beauty and Skincare Industry ( www.hcsbc.co.za ). To enhance compliance in a small business, the initial step is to grasp the relevant regulations and standards relevant to your industry. Staying updated on regulations affecting your operations, including labour laws, industry-specific rules, and environmental standards, is crucial. A legal or compliance expert can assist in interpreting and navigating this complex regulatory environment and by contacting the EOHCB we are able to assist with all your questions and queries regarding industry regulations. Refining a culture of compliance within your company is essential. Employees should recognise that following regulations and ethical standards is not just mandatory, but a fundamental value of your business. Promote open communication about compliance issues and ensure that employees feel safe reporting concerns without fear of retaliation. One must carefully consider the consequences of non-compliance with laws or regulations, especially our main collective agreement, claiming ignorance of a requirement is not a valid excuse as the responsibility lies with the business to invest the necessary time to understand its obligations. Combining effective management practices with compliance efforts can greatly improve the performance and sustainability of your small business. This integration ensures that operations are both efficient and legally compliant. For instance, implementing vigorous record-keeping systems aids in managing your business performance and maintaining compliance with the main collective agreement for example. Regular training and development programs for employees should address both operational skills and compliance knowledge. This dual focus enhances productivity and ensures that employees are informed about and adhere to relevant regulations. In conclusion, the success of small establishments depends on a consonant blend of strategic business management and rigorous compliance. By setting clear goals, managing resources efficiently, and ensuring adherence to legal guidelines small businesses can navigate challenges, seize opportunities, and establish a foundation for long-term success. - Style Tips for Working with Reds by Sophie-Rose Goldsworthy
According to Sophie-Rose Goldsworthy from Goldsworthy’s, Swindon, deep, earthy reds like burgundy, mahogany, and chestnut are set to be popular, offering warmth and sophistication. “These shades add richness and depth and are perfect for a polished look,” she says. Vibrant coppers and fiery scarlets bring a dynamic energy to the classic red palette. Jewel-toned reds, such as ruby and garnet, add a luxurious, opulent touch, embracing the versatility of reds - from subtle, earthy hues to bold, vibrant tones. “ Colour melting blends different shades seamlessly, perfect for rich tones like burgundy and copper,” Sophie-Rose adds. Balayage is a great technique for reds tones, offering a soft, natural transition. For bold, statement looks, colour blocking with contrasting reds works well, as this will give your colours dimension and interest in a fashion-forward way. These techniques ensure your reds stay vibrant and healthy all season long.” Sophie-Rose’s top tips when working with reds Do consider skin tone: Choose red shades that complement your client's complexion. Warmer skin tones pair well with copper and auburn, while cooler tones suit deeper burgundy or violet reds. Do focus on hair health: Reds can be vibrant, but they also require healthy hair to look their best. Use nourishing treatments before and after colouring to maintain shine and prevent fading. Do blend and layer shades: Create depth and dimension by blending multiple shades of red. Techniques like colour melting or balayage add natural-looking variation and richness to the colour. Don’t skip a proper consultation: Reds are bold and can be tricky to remove or correct. Ensure you and your client are on the same page about the desired outcome before starting. Don’t overlook maintenance: Reds tend to fade faster than other colours. Advise clients on proper homecare and recommend regular touch-ups to keep the colour looking fresh. Don’t forget your base! Avoid dreaded root glow by adding a base shade into your formula for the roots! Even on the most perfect starting canvas, I will always subdue my regrowth and intensify my ends to ensure a beautiful even colour from root to tip.
