Styles: Hello Dolly by Dee Parker, Australia

My collection is called Hello Dolly.

Since I started hairdressing over 25 years ago, my creative dream has been to create and execute a photo shoot for my favourite fashion publication Italian Vogue. I pretended this collection was created especially for this.

I treated this as my chance to do the hair that inspires me and match it with the perfect fashion and photography. I wanted something that translates all over the world as forward thinking showcasing current hair and fashion trends.

I researched for hours and practiced the looks hoping to create never-seen before concepts with beautiful, clever hair. This is not a hair collection so much as an editorial campaign.

My production team was the biggest and most experienced I have ever engaged before to bring my creation to a reality. I also flew in models from all over Australia, after looking through many agencies to cast the perfect hair and textures.

Big credit to my make up team including Liz Mason responsible for hours of tattoo applications. Make up artist Kylie O’Toole focused on the models’ faces, balancing the overall looks. But it was brilliant photographer Andrew O’Toole that really brought the concept to Life!!

I think what Hello Dolly says about me as a hairstylist is that I have changed over the years. I have evolved and become less ‘hairdresser-y’ and more fashion inspired. My work and collections are less busy now and more simplistic. I focus on the beautiful and the clever more, still always applying and showcasing all my skills.

The hair you will see, I believe, is at the forefront of international editorial hair but can still be translated into my salon life and used to promote hairdressers and salons.

My hair direction was definitely influenced and inspired by the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. However never copied, I stripped back some iconic hair shapes and then added my own creative. I reinterpreted classic era looks to make them current and new.

Hello Dolly pays respect to the eras showcasing incredible and memorable fashion moments.
