mhb Special Message and The Year in Review

Chris Stofberg, Managing Director, mhb

With the end of 2024 only a few weeks away, it’s natural for us to reflect on the year gone by. There have been major political events worldwide, from the media-frenzied US election to the divisive and ongoing crisis in the Middle East. And now, as members of BRICS nations, we wait anxiously for the potential economic effect of a possible US-imposed tariff increase.

Despite these global challenges, I continue to feel a deep sense of hope that a united South Africa under a democratic Government of National Unity can continue to overcome its many challenges – united in the spirit of Ubuntu. I am forever grateful that I am where I am, here at the southern tip of Africa in this beautiful country we call home.

2024 has been a busy and exciting year for mhb and we have a lot to celebrate. In the first quarter, we introduced two new brands – Qiqi and Keune – and we hosted a record number of guests on board the MSC Splendida to Mozambique. Sweet also celebrated its 13th anniversary. In the second quarter Simone Badenhorst, from Flirt Hair in Pretoria took gold for South Africa in the prestigious International Wella TrendVision Award, following in the footsteps of Charles Junior Louw and proving to the world that South African hairdressers rank among the most skilled in the world. The limited edition Reuzel X Kyone Clipper made landfall and two lucky winners walked away with one each at our wildly popular Reuzel Look & Learn workshops held in Joburg and Cape Town and presented by South Africa’s Reuzel Scumbassador Renaldo Da Silva. The last quarter of 2024 saw mhb win not one, but four Woman&Home Beauty Awards.

A major highlight for our company this year was the introduction of our new mhb logo. Our focus is on making the transition to the new logo as sustainable as possible by allowing old materials to be replaced as new materials are needed. Our refreshed website, with new features, will go live in 2025.

It is my sincere hope that we have been able to positively impact your business and hairdressing success throughout 2024. At mhb, we measure our worth by your success and we are committed to continuously deliver on that commitment by improving our services and offering to you.

Looking ahead, I am excited about 2025. We have several new projects in the pipeline including plans to expand the mhb brand stable and grow our product offering to serve a larger portion of the hair and beauty industry. We are also looking to introduce brands that overlap with our industry to make mhb an even more robust company with a steady and reliable flow of products and services. I cannot wait to share the details with you. But all in good time.

As always, we welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have for improving our service to you. While we may not be able to implement every idea, your input makes us aware of how we can do better in areas we may not have considered previously.

In closing, I hope you find the time to wind down and take a rest over the holiday season, even if it is just for a few days. On behalf of the mhb family, I want to extend a massive thank-you for your support, big or small. We appreciate every one of you.

Please travel safely, and I look forward to seeing you in the new year!
