No matter how good the fade it, if it is too high or too low, the client won’t perceive the hairstyle as being good.

A rule of thumb to follow is this: The longer the hair on top of the head, the lower you must cut your fade. If the fade is cut too high, the cut will not appear to be balanced.

So - to achieve perfection, follow these steps:

1. Start by layering the top section.

2. Use the top section as the guide while you cut the round the head section.

3. Before you start the fade, cut the sides and the back to give yourself a guide.

By following these steps, it will be easy for you to judge how high the fade will be for a perfect blend, and the cut will look perfectly balanced.
