  • November Hairoscopes

Astrologist Zema predicts your stars for November. For a full personalised reading, you can contact her on 083 430 1456. SCORPIO 23 OCT – 21 NOV Right Scorp! You’re on a ride - don’t slow down! You can achieve the most incredible things in the next few months if you put some thought into it and choose correctly. If you’re not sure of something get advice from someone who knows more than you do - they DO exist, you know! Even love life improves but here’s the trick – Balance the job and love! You’ve got a good path ahead of you if you use your brains (?)… SAGITTARIUS 22 NOV – 21 DEC You’re very good at getting what you want, but if you Really want that special person, do your best to calm down for a change and examine your strategy. Be the Romantic Sag we know you as. Work seems to be dragging on a bit, but you cannot lose patience - just when you think you can’t stand it any more, it improves incredibly. Keep going. A friend may need some sympathy, so get with it. IMPORTANT - keep your patience! CAPRICORN 21 DEC – JAN 20 Cap! Really time to make a decision about your job. This does NOT mean leave the one you Have before you’re sure of the one you Get. You’re intelligent, you know what you’re doing concerning work - just don’t brag too much and get on anybody’s nerves. Improvement of job situation will also bring improvement of Love life. How’s that for a deal? You need to look straight ahead for a change instead of every direction. AQUARIUS 20 JAN – 18 FEB You have this Bright Idea Aqua! (Run everybody, Run!). Could take a bit of time for you to sort out the details, but in the end it works well. It appears to be more spiritual than anything else, and you, as an Aqua, are very good at this kind of thing because you can see so many sides of the same story. Time to be a Hero and to go for it with enthusiasm, but don’t overdo it - you could end up with stab wounds from irritated people. PISCES 19 FEB – 20 MARCH You know Pisces, you really are one of the greatest Lovers of the Zodiac! (when you feel like it …). Please take some time to sit down and Think for a change before you blunder into something you will battle to get out of. Money is starting to look better, but don’t get carried away. The word “Millionaire” is not it. You need to concentrate a bit more on your spiritual side which has always been very strong, but you tend to ignore it. ARIES 21 MARCH – 19 APRIL Aries, you’re always so good at getting on with people, but at the moment you’re a bit stuck. You’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by people who are, basically, Bullies. Ignore! Walk away! The only people who will lose is them. Shame for them! Money is about to be improved, but not in millions. Just appreciate what you get, something you’re pretty good at, as you always have ideas of how to increase what you get. Think hard. TAURUS 20 APRIL – 20 MAY You’re doing just fine! The main thing is that you are ACTUALLY keeping your temper for a change. Looks like money is about to improve or just has (NOT millions!). This has given you more confidence and a better attitude to others, minus swords, guns, knives, etc. for a change. There is a bit of a path for you to walk - it appears you are interested in something spiritual. Wonderful news but please, don’t get carried away. GEMINI 21 MAY - 20 JUNE Time for decisions, Gem! We all know this is the hardest trick for you to pull off, but something has been hanging in the background for so long it’s starting to smell funny … When you’ve made the decision you’re going to wonder why you took so long! (we ALL will!). There are wondrous opportunities awaiting you, work maybe, making money maybe, wondrous love … Could be anything. Do It! We’re all waiting for this. CANCER 21 JUNE - 21 JULY You seem to have an awful lot on your mind right now, so perhaps a bit of quiet time could do the trick to get you back together …No promises, but can only do you good. You could discover other things that you’ve never dreamt of. How would that be for a surprise? Something creative seems to be very strong - stop ignoring it. Love life looks good, please remember to include your partner in whatever you want to do. LEO 22 JULY - 22 AUG Leo! You have wonderful money-making ideas, but you don’t always carry them out. When you think of it, DO it, or you’ll let go of it too quickly. People will be amazed, especially the Special One who will want to comb and curl your beautiful mane … Look at your Spiritual side as well - you seem to be somewhere in the middle of the path, not sure which way to go. Someone will appear out of the blue to teach you things. VIRGO 23 AUG – 22 SEP You are NOT perfect, Virg - so stop trying to appear to be. You do, however, have a way of teaching others to be more precise in various things. The Stars are saying “Do it - but VERY carefully”. You have some wonderful ideas of how to improve other peoples’ lives, but you have to learn to relax while you’re doing it and keep your famous temper. Your loved ones are going to be very, very pleased with your progress! LIBRA 23 SEPT – OCT 22 Go a bit slowly if you want to keep your bank balance sort of acceptable. You have an eye for beautiful and handy objects and tend to get carried away sometimes. If you go shopping, TAKE somebody with you, somebody who is not a Libra! You have an admirer that has been hanging around for a long time but is too scared to approach you (with good reason …) He/she is NOT perfect, but fabulous - give it a go, Lib! • Hygiene & Safety Tips for Salons from EOHCB

By Nicolene Steyn: EOHCB National Vice President Beauty The Employers’ Organisation for Hairdressing, Cosmetology and Beauty has been focussing the past three years through its beauty sector on Hygiene and Safety in the workplace. Initiated by Nicolene Steyn – National Vice President for Beauty and a business owner herself, has noticed that in our industry, it’s so easy to get REALLY preoccupied and that the first responsibility that goes out the door is hygiene and safety! This begs the following questions; What measures do you have in place for your establishment to ensure that your staff is following and performing the correct hygiene and safety protocols in a quick, easy and efficient manner? Are the hygiene and safety protocols that you have in place enough? Does it really destroy all possible germs? With the assistance of Doctor Judey Pretorius from Biomedical Emporium, the EOHCB has put together a short but impactful hygiene and safety guide document to inform all industry participants, that we collectively have a responsibility to humanity to conduct services and treatments in environments that are hygienic and safe! Here are a few tips that will assist you to ensure that your business is providing services and treatments in the best interest of all supporting its operation and existence: 1. Change the surfactant and sterilizing ingredients that you use, every three months, as it will not be as effective after some time – Do not use the same agent over and over for years as germs become resistant to the chemical(s). 2. Wash and/or soak materials/tools used to perform services/treatments with water of a temperature of 77﮿ degrees. 3. Be cautious when your employees are ill and at work. Germs and bugs spread easily. Encourage regular hand washes with disinfectants and promote the use of multi-vitamins to boost the immune system. 4. Always use gloves when doing more invasive therapy treatments, for example: waxing, extractions, micro needling etc. 5. Spritzing rooms, implements, beds and tools with 60 – 70% alcohol will kill any unwanted micro-organisms. 6. UV – sun exposure is to our benefit and should form part of your sterilization routine. Alternative to UV exposure, is the use of UV nail lamps in which you can leave your implements/tools for 5 or more minutes after washed with a surfactant and soaked in a sterilant. This is just a short summary of information and tips you will hear at our nationwide seminars. Follow us on our social media pages to be informed of our next Hygiene & Safety in the workplace seminar near you! “Occupational safety and hygiene are vital to the dignity of work”. • Amazing Service Combo for Thick Hair from Corinne Macchia, Shag High Voltage Hair

This innovative service combined a half head of foils with a Brazilian keratin treatment from the crown to the nape – all in under 4 hours! I absolutely loved doing this combo, Corinne explained. My beautiful client is your typical 10 week highlights client. Her hair was extremely long and so thick it takes me a full hour and a half to foil. Being a new mother of two she sat down on a lovely Friday afternoon to tell me she doesn’t have time to do her hair and is dying to go shorter, but she feel she can’t due to the thickness of her hair. This is where we come in as creative people and recommend to our clients how we can CHANGE THEIR LIVES. (Coz we’re awesome like that!) I recommended that we break the hair line with 20-25 foils (using Schwarzkopf BlondMe lightning powder and 6%) just to take that edge of the dark root, giving her a softer looking blonde with a balayage effect. THEN HERE COMES THE GAME CHANGER! Knowing my foils will develop for an hour I applied MK Brazilian Keratin treatment from her crown to her nape (to eliminate the bushy effect at the back) MK developed in 30 min due to her hair already being pre lightened. It gave me another half and hour to blow dry my Brazilian and flat iron it in. I washed my foils and Brazilian at the same time. I shadowed her roots with Redken Shades 8N 10ml and 8P 10ml with 20 ml clear and used gloss to cream developer. On mid lengths and ends I used Redken Shades 09P 15ml with processing solution. For styling I used the Fibre Mousse by REF to blow dry (no matter the hair type this is amazing stuff) and REF spray wax to finish my soft curl and give this great finish. Affordability wise I gave her the best of both worlds for the same price as a full head highlights. This way I feel my client walked out feeling great with new beautiful blonde manageable hair and still within her budget. • Wage Agreement Update from Bargaining Council

Below is a summary of the outcome of Substantive Negotiations between the EOHCB and UASA the Union, and what this means for the industry. The full article is below, and w have included a short video to summarise the info. Outcome of Substantive Negotiations between The Employers Organisation for Hair, Cosmetology and Beauty (EOHCB) and UASA – The Union On Friday 13 September 2019 The Employers Organisation for Hair, Cosmetology and Beauty (EOHCB) and UASA – The Union (Hereafter referred to as the Parties) concluded their negotiations. • The agreement will be effective from 1 September 2019 and applied to the members’ and effective to non-parties from the date of publication of the main agreement by the Minister of Labour. • The Parties confirm that the National Minimum Wage Act signed by the President and effective 1 January 2019 are adhered to by the industry. • The Parties agreed that with effect from 1 September 2019 the prescribed minimum salaries/wages per job category as contained in the relevant schedules of the main agreement be increased with 7% in all areas excluding the Free State Province, Kimberley, North West, Border/East London and Eastern Cape where it will be increased by 6%. • The Parties agreed that, a once off ex-gratia payment equal to 5.5% of the current prescribed minimum salaries/wages applicable to the job designation of employee shall be paid either the end of September 2019 or alternatively, in three equal instalments at the end of September, October and November 2019. • Employees who received an increase of more than 5.5% in January 2019 due to the implementation of the National Minimum Wage or employees that are paid an actual wage of equal to or more than the prescribed minimum wage plus 5.5%, will not receive any further increase and or ex-gratia payment. • Employees that received an increase that was less than 5.5% calculated on the prescribed minimum wage, shall receive an additional increase equal to the percentage difference between the increase received and 7% in all areas excluding the Free State Province, Kimberley, North West, Border/East London and Eastern Cape where it shall be calculated and paid on the difference between the increase received and 6%. • The parties agreed that all learners and students registered with the council shall be exempted from contributing to the pension fund and Council fees. Should the learner or student towards the end of their training start generating income on the floor, they have to contribute as full time employees. This exemption shall not apply to any of the other trainee categories in the main agreement. Due to the time-lines, the following will apply: • That the deductions for September 2019 was be based on the 2018 salary as per the returns that went out. Therefore the salary increase applies to September 2019 and the new contributions applies only from October 2019. • The amendments as per the negotiations will then be concluded by the Council before the October 2019 billing run. • It is also important to note that the ex gratia 5.5% is based on the 2018 salaries (use August 2019) as a once off. This is not a retrospective payment back to January 2019 but only a once off based on the August 2019 salary. For example: August 2019 salary x 5.5% = Ex gratia payment that should have been made in September 2019 or alternatively could be done in instalments but has to be done by end of November 2019. www.hcsbc.co.za You might also enjoy...
