- Colour Out Loud with Wella Colour Blocking
Wella Colour Blocking is a look that’s high on contrast, high on drama and high on Instagram appeal. From pops of pastel, to monochrome strokes, to rainbow hues in chunky ribbons – Wella Colour Blocking is the ultimate in versatile hair looks, allowing you to take it from subtle to bold. It’s a trend that sees contrasting colours painted through the hair in statement blocks. Usually it’s a two-tone look, but you could level up your colour blocks by pulling in three, four or even five hues. At the very least, you need a base colour and an accent hue to make the trend work for your client. Then you can choose the placement that best suits their personality and style, whether that’s a bold, chunky face frame or a scattering of highlights. So, let’s take a look at the new trend that helps you and your client push the boundaries of colour. Here are the colour blocking tips and looks you need from Wella Professionals, the No.1 salon colour brand in the world1. 3 Ideas for Perfect Colour Block Placement There are so many ways to work colour block hair – and in so many shade combinations – but if you’re looking to contour or enhance your client’s features, keep these guidelines in mind: • Dark colours can shorten and narrow your client’s face shape. • Light colours can lengthen and widen your client’s face shape. So, what do these tips mean for your colour blocking hair creations? While there are no rules when it comes to the trend, you can harness the magic of colour theory to refine your placement for an extra flattering finish. Here’s how… 1. To sculpt a wider face shape Contour your client’s features by adding a darker frame closest to the front of their hair. For example, if you’re adding chocolate brown for black hair, keep the very front section black. This can have an elongating effect on the overall face shape, while drawing attention to the eye area. 2. To add width to a narrow jawline Add width and draw attention to the lower part of your client’s face by sweeping bold lightness through the lengths. Go for high contrast or colour block highlights that are at least three shades brighter than the base. 3. To soften angular features Soften features by focusing lightness close to the face while leaving depth near the neckline. By embracing targeted lightening with a bright face frame, you open up the cheekbones and jawline, and give your client’s complexion a radiant glow. 6 Wella Colour Blocking Hair Looks Express Face Frame For maximum impact in minimum time, this quick technique transforms blondes by adding cool depth and glow-boosting brightness. Created with: BlondorPlex + Welloxon Perfect focused around the face and scattered freehand through the back. Shinefinity Color Glaze + Brush & Bowl Activator was swept through the roots and the lengths between the lightness. Shinefinity Flash Glaze was applied for enhanced tone and shine. Blocked Face Frame For an even bolder, blockier take on a face frame, try this pastel meets platinum blonde look. It sees light locks enhanced with a bolt of sky blue, but you can also reach for pinks, greens, purples … you name it. Created with: Blondor Freelights + Welloxon Perfect to lighten the full face frame. Shinefinity Color Glaze throughout the hair for a soft sky blue – making sure you leave the hairline out. Shinefinity Flash Glaze on the lightened areas to complete the look. Express Chunky Highlights Chunky highlights offer an easy way to create colour block hair. Simply offset your base colour with weighty sweeps of an accent hue, like this honey blonde. It’s especially great for adding subtle contrast to textured locks, making it a must-try for curls craving definition. Created with: BlondorPlex + Welloxon Perfect before boosting depth with Koleston Perfect + Welloxon Perfect. Shinefinity Flash Glaze focused through the lightened areas to give locks some extra ‘pop’ against the dark base. Bold Chunky Highlights Take chunky highlights even bolder by adding extra ribbons throughout the hair. With a subtle rose brown tone, this particular creation is a sophisticated version of colour blocked hair. Created with: BlondorPlex + Welloxon for high impact lightness. Koleston Perfect + Welloxon for root tap and depth focused through the lightened areas to set off chunky highlights in style. Contrast Blocking Punchy and playful, contrast colour blocking is a look made for the brave. Don’t be afraid to strive for maximum impact with your placement, as seen in this teal-toned creation. Created with: BlondorPlex + Welloxon for added dimension. Koleston Perfect + Welloxon for toning. Finished with INVIGO Post Color Service + Welloxon for richness and depth to the base, with a dose of glossy shine. Monochromatic Blocking You don’t need to reach for rainbow brights to turn heads with a colour block mane. Black and grey blonde hair makes a statement like no other, so embrace that monochrome palette. Created with: BlondorPlex + Welloxon Perfect for lightening. Toned with Koleston + Welloxon for a smoky root smudge. Finished with Shinefinity Color Glaze for an alpine blonde that seriously stands out against the dark charcoal base. This Stunning, glowing coral shade was done by Denver-based reds specialist Cameron Nichols (@cameronnichols_). On Cameron’s client, he only used a high lift—no bleach included. Rinse, then apply Formula D from the regrowth to the midlengths. Allow to process for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly, then apply a cocktail of Kérastase Chroma Absolu Chroma Thermique Hair Serum and Oribe® Hair Alchemy Fortifying Treatment Serum for heat protection and frizz-control. - EOHCB: Incapacity Due to Ill Health
Incapacity due to ill-health refers to a situation where an employee is unable to perform their normal duties or activities due to health-related issues. This can include physical or mental conditions that limit a person's ability to work, carry out daily tasks, or participate in regular activities. Ill-health can range from temporary illnesses, such as the flu or a minor injury, to chronic conditions or disabilities that have a long-term impact on functioning. There are numerous examples of ill health that could lead to incapacity, depending on the severity and impact on an individual's ability to function. Here are some common examples: Chronic conditions: Conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and heart disease can cause ongoing symptoms that may limit a person's ability to work or carry out daily activities. Mental health disorders: Mental health conditions like depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can significantly impair a person's ability to concentrate, make decisions, or maintain relationships, affecting their functioning at work and in other areas of life. Acute illnesses: Temporary illnesses such as the flu, pneumonia, severe infections, or injuries from accidents can lead to short-term incapacity, requiring time off work or reduced activity levels until the individual recovers. Degenerative diseases: Progressive diseases like Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can gradually worsen over time, leading to increasing levels of disability and incapacity. Injuries: Serious injuries from accidents, falls, sports-related incidents, or workplace incidents can result in physical impairments that limit mobility, strength, or coordination, affecting an individual's ability to perform their usual activities. Cancer: Cancer and its treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, can cause debilitating side effects like fatigue, nausea, pain, and cognitive impairment, impacting a person's ability to work and engage in daily tasks. Neurological disorders: Conditions like epilepsy, stroke, traumatic brain injury (TBI), or cerebral palsy can cause neurological deficits that affect movement, sensation, cognition, or communication, leading to varying degrees of incapacity. Autoimmune diseases: Diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or multiple sclerosis involve the immune system mistakenly attacking healthy tissues, resulting in inflammation, pain, fatigue, and other symptoms that may interfere with daily functioning. These examples illustrate the diverse range of health conditions that can potentially lead to incapacity, highlighting the importance of appropriate medical care, support systems, and accommodations to help individuals manage their conditions and maintain their quality of life. In some cases, individuals may need to take time off work or reduce their workload to focus on their health and recovery. Employers in general have a responsibility to support individuals who are incapacitated due to ill-health, whether through providing access to healthcare services, offering workplace accommodations, or implementing policies that promote work-life balance and employee well-being. It's important for individuals experiencing ill-health-related incapacity to seek appropriate medical care and support, communicate with their employers or relevant authorities about their condition, and take steps to prioritize their health and well- being.
