My collection is the manipulation of beauty and gender, and it's impact on the Hair world.
Blurring the lines of gender is still creating fresh and new ideas for Hair, Beauty and Fashion. I was drawn in by Reality Star Raja Gemini on the cover of Stunnin Magazine, and the warm yellow, black and white colour pallete featured throughout (see mood board). The colour selection reminded me of roadworks signs, hence the collection name, D2R (a play on the word Detour). It's with a kind heart that the hair world embraces diversity, bold changes in hair fashion, and a progressive outlook on beauty standards, yet much of mainstream society continues to struggle with this same kind of acceptance. Many of us want guidance, a road map and signage to navigate a sometimes confusing world of pronouns, gender, and inclusion. The white powder featured in my shots is symbolic of feeling overwhelmed, bombarded, and even attacked as many of us just want to find our place in this beautiful yet sometimes confusing world.
