My Salon Software: People Stop Spending When You Stop Servicing

There is no doubt that Covid affected every sector of our lives especially retail and services.

There is also a strong relationship between customer spending and the perception of service.

I noticed this during my recent visit to the UK. Like everywhere else, prices have risen and customers are having to justify the cost of a visit to the salon, or to their favourite restaurant.

And UK hair and beauty salon are fighting back…with SERVICE!

Ignoring the horror of spending Pounds bought with Rands (23 to 1), it was the element of service which I found very evident in shops, restaurants and hair salons that seemed to convince customers the price of the visit was worth it. You could feel the welcoming energy as you walked into the shop - smiling faces and a body language that showed service was top of their agenda.

And the service doesn’t stop after you have entered the shop, staff are focused on ‘what more can I do to improve your service experience’, right up to the end of the your visit.

One might be a bit overwhelmed by this continued attention to service but there is no doubt that, even though prices have increased the best way to survive is to make the SERVICE worth the prices you are asking (or keep lowering your prices until you go out of business.)

Who would have thought that people are prepared to pay for SERVICE?
