Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Recovery Liquid Layer is a salon-exclusive pre-treatment designed to help recover existing damage before lightening and oxidative colour services. It’s particularly useful for stressed, porous or chemically treated hair. If the hair feels uneven, rough or overly porous during the consultation, Recovery Liquid Layer can help prepare it for the service ahead.
Patented AHA and Omega-9 technology work on both the inside and outside of the hair. AHA supports the hair’s internal structure, while Omega-9 helps replenish the outer lipid layer and improve the condition of the cuticle. The technology also helps detox the hair from metals, which can be particularly relevant when working with previously treated hair.
As always, begin with a proper consultation. Ask what your client has done to their hair, how it has been feeling and what they are hoping to achieve. Your hands will tell you a lot too. Check the condition, porosity and elasticity before deciding whether a pre-treatment is needed.
Apply Recovery Liquid Layer to dry, unwashed hair before your lightening or oxidative colour service. Blow-dry on a cool to medium-warm setting without brushing. There’s no extra processing time, so you can move straight into the colour or lightening service according to the usual guidelines. The aim is to improve the condition of the hair before you start, helping to create a more even surface for your service while reducing breakage after lightening.
Once the colour or lightening service is complete, emulsify and shampoo as usual, then follow with the appropriate post-service treatment. After lightening, use BlondorPlex No. 2 before toning. After either lightening or oxidative colour, finish with Ultimate Color Colour Sealer Liquid Layer to help lock in colour.
For extra smoothness, Ultimate Smooth Glass Liquid Layer can be applied section by section before blow-drying. It’s a simple addition to the service that can make a difference to how the hair feels when the colour is done.
