Label.M and Artero also generated a lot of interest on the Hair Stage, as did the ORS event.

Wahl presented the top barbering styles for Spring, with some striking shades on show. Local brand Native Child demoed how their new product works on curly type hair.

BabylissPro hosted its annual barbering competition at Salon International.

The results of the BabylissPro Barber of the Year 2023 are:

1st - Kyle Titus @ Speakeasy Shop

2nd - Terronova Johnson @ Carolines Hair

3rd – Leandri Ohlsen @ Kuif & Baard.

The Biosense Junior Hair Stylist of The Year Competition was held at the Twincare Gala Awards on the evening of 3rd September at Salon International. Eligible entries needed less than 2 years of experience in the industry, with the eight finalists required to present a show at the Gala event.

First place went to Sibongile Mdhluli of Paul James, with Nicole Pedro of Collab Hair second, and Britteny Hall of Dianes in third spot.

A new feature at Salon International was Barber Connect, a networking and educational programme targeted at professional barbers. Several lively presentations contributed to making this a successful inaugural event.

Visitors to the show were also able to see the latest products and technologies from leading suppliers in the industry.

Salon International ran alongside its sister event, Professional Beauty Johannesburg.

The 2024 edition of both events will take place on 1 & 2 September.
