With BARBERS’ STORIES we want to celebrate our heroes.
Men who are visionaries, artists, barbers who have revolutionised an ancient craft. A small European tour, north to south, meeting them on the way so that we can tell you their stories.
The journey begins.
VALDAGNO
Italy

Nestled in the Venetian Prealps hills in the Vicenza province is Valdagno, a small gem on the River Agno, boasting Medieval and Renaissance architecture. Steeped in nature (a 10-minute drive takes you to the ski slopes and 20 minutes to the Little Dolomites), Valdagno also enjoys a lively culture that gravitates around the 18th-century Palazzo Festari. This cultural hub is home to a Modern Art Gallery, the Super Theatre, and La Favorita Park, both of rationalist design. It hosts international jazz and contemporary art festivals, offering unique experiences for the culturally inclined.
The heart of Valdagno beats in its looms and tanneries. The NUMAT (Textile Machinery Museum) is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, showcasing the industrial archaeology machinery used to produce quality textiles by the company founded by the Marzotto family in 1836. The town also boasts small handicrafts of excellence, specializing in the processing of wool and the stitching of premium leathers for Made in Italy haute couture and luxury automotive. And when you want to unplug, you'll find yourself surrounded by the company of others, as is typical of the Veneto region. The local culture revolves around social gatherings, often around a good glass in this case biancorosso. This liqueur apéritif can only be found at Carlotto, a quaint 100-year-old liqueur and spirits producer, a favorite haunt of young people.
[BARBER]
Alex Dani Sansugaro

If you are looking for a barbershop where the profession runs in the family, look no further: The Ripper Barbershop in Valdagno is the spot-on place for you. Alex Dani, founder and owner, is a third- generation barber with a wealth of experience and expertise passed down from his grandfather and father.
Unlike them, Alex Dani has also honed his skills internationally, spending years abroad and developing a skillset in the Anglo-Saxon world. His decision to return to the Vicenza province, where he's from, is a testament to his commitment to providing high-quality barber services.
Whether it's shaving with a machine and scissors or the old-fashioned blade and hot cloth, beard trimming, modern and classic cuts, hot compresses with essential oils, special treatments, DEPOT® products for hair and beard guarantee an exceptional result. In his barbershop, you will find both trends and the best craftsmanship.
His clients, whether they're hipsters with a beard or lovers of a flawless shave, often say that Alex Dani "has blades running through his veins". This might explain why he chose to name his barbershop The Ripper, a term that
signifies exceptional skill. But for Alex, it's also a nod to the knife skills of a certain historical figure, Jack the
Ripper!
