Soft Copper

The copper hair color phenomenon of fall ’22 is sliding into 2023 with a “shy” attitude. This year we’ll be seeing light, warm hues on predominantly high-lift clients. Muted coppers ranging from a strawberry blonde to a more vibrant peach have been seen EVERYWHERE. Luckily for stylists, this trend will give your clients a bit more leeway when their color begins to fade—as it will just add to the look!


Things to remember:

  • Gloss and glaze services will be this trend’s BFF—book appointments accordingly.

  • A LOT of blonde clients will request to go soft copper. Balance your formulas with gold-based toners to avoid red hues grabbing onto prelightened hair too intensely.

  • It’s a trend—opt for demi to semi-permanent hair color to start. Although we can’t get enough copper, clients easily get tired of reds. Save yourself down the road and ease into the red tones with a less permanent option for easy(ish) recon later.

Auburn & Wine-Toned Reds

Although we’ve seen a ton of copper looks this year, we are predicting the redhead trend to move into chic auburn and wine-based red tones.

Bronze Hues

Autumn Trends with muk haircare South Africa – Fantastic Recipes Direct from muk Color Specialists!

Formula: Bianca used MUK Hybrid colour and MUK vivid direct colour to create this beautiful vibrant copper balayage. Roots were done using a mixture of 9.0, 9.3 and 8.4 with 20 vol while the ends were a mixture of Blaze Orange and Fire Red.


SALON: Aileen Share Hair

Stylist: Aileen

Formula: Intense Red Violet hues is such a trend right now and Aileen absolutely proved that on her client. Transforming this natural level 6 client using MUK Hybrid colour using 55.66 and 55.62 with a dash of red concentrate and mixed with hybrid intense lotion. Aileen says “The MUK reds just never disappoints and its true to tone.”

Name: Rene Ferreira

Formula: Rene, the National Education Manager for MUK Haircare South Africa used Autumn colors as inspiration for this trending colour blocking technique. A solid block of colour diagonally across from each other was lifted using MUK ultra lift bleach and 20 vol, he then used 6.43, 7.4 with some orange concentrate to add vibrancy with 10 vol. Rene’s Client can wear her hair depending on her mood for the day.

Stylist: Shafia Cassiem Haffejee

Formula: Shafia transformed her clients hair into this beautiful autumn red using MUK hybrid colour. The client had highlight before this process which help give dimension in the hair. Shafia’s formula to achieve this look was 77.66, 7.0 and some concentrate with 20 vol.

MARC ANTONI AUTUMN/WINTER TRENDS COLLECTION FOR JOICO

A NEW Collection featuring LUMISHINE® Powerhouse Reds



Helmond, the Netherlands – Hair looks good at every length but it’s no secret that longer hair gives you more room to play. Who better to offer some long hair inspiration than the experts.


The Marc Antoni Group has created a long hair look that will have everyone with lobs, bobs and pixie cuts rethinking their cut.


Some are calling it the Queen’s Gambit effect... we call it Marc Antoni Magic, because red has never been hotter. A showstopping deep red color was created using LumiShine Powerhouse Reds. The collection stays true to tone, while sounding the siren for shiny, healthy-looking, fade- resistant color. To achieve these looks, a regular trim, coupled with masques and treatments, are vital for enviable movement and shine.


The hair was blow-dried using JoiWhip Foam for volume and shine and to build the foundation for the waving technique. K-Pak Color Therapy Luster Lock Glossing Oil was also used to deliver that instant wow-factor plus powerful protection to ensure the shade will glow the distance. Heat Hero was sprayed on to protect the hair from the thermal assault of being tonged. Lastly, Flipturn and STRUCTURE By JOICO Glamtex were used to set and finish the style.
