BEST BALAYAGE

Donovan John Foti

Owner of DJ Hairdressing in Durban

Growing up, Donovan spent his days in and out of his father’s barber shop: priceless moments that would shape the rest of his life. He feels his observations and charisma paid off, when at the young age of 13, he started professional gents cuts until he grew into a fully-fledged barber.

However, with a desire for more out of life and more out of the hair industry, he decided to leap into the world of ladies’ hair. His experience and foundations as a barber made the transition very easy.

His passion, experience and enthusiasm for hair has stayed with him throughout the years, being the true fuondation of his success, paving the way for two of his current salons in Vryheid, and Durban, KZN SA.

He feels very honoured to be a 3 times Wella Master Colourist, with his passion to learn and teach has bringing him to Intercoiffure SA where he is currently the FG Director for KZN SA.

“I am so proud to be part of the Wella family. The professionalism of the organisation coupled with their innovation has seen me grow and develop as a stylist to the point where I have now been recognised by Wella as a Master Stylist. As with any trade, it takes thousands of hours to achieve mastery, and while I don’t yet see myself as THE master stylist, I am certainly humbled and grateful for the Master Stylist recognition from Wella.

“In the fast paced and high energy industry, the words “I can’t” never features for me. Learning from everyone around me has been my driving force. I have always asked, “Let me show you something, then you show me something”. The aim is to always be better than yesterday, no matter how amazing you were. “The difference between failure and success is perseverance, only when you stop trying, you will fail.” Hairdressing has given me an amazing platform to share and live life BIG.”
