The fund set up by the Rupert family to support small businesses has been overwhelmed by applications from SMMEs and sole proprietors hoping to get relief to tide them over during this difficult time. In just three days the fund has exceeded its R1-billion limit by a substantial amount and so the site has been temporarily closed. The Rupert fund is pleading with other big businesses to contribute to try and meet this very urgent need from South Africa’s affected business owners. As and when the site reopens for applications, we will publish it asap.
