EOHCB Western Cape Champions: Interview with Farazaanah Abrahams

At the recent EOHCB Western Cape Championships. Mia Crous was the overall senior winner and Farazaanah Abrahams was the Stylistoftomoro winner. Below is Farazaanah’s interview, following on from Mia’s yesterday! Full competition results and photos will follow soon.

What was your favourite part about preparing for the competition?

My favourite part was finding my inspiration for the looks I wanted to create and bringing it to life with colour and theme. I started with doing research on the look required and making a mood board which consist of ideas of clothing, hair designs, make-up, jewellery, shoes and total look. Once this is done, creating the style becomes easy. I found inspiration on social media like Facebook and Instagram, I follow lots of competition page's like O.M.C hairworld, Goldwell Color Zoom and Wella Trend Vision.

Did you learn a lot through your experience in the competition?

My experience has taught me to be creative within boundaries and take my creativity to the next level. It has taught me time management, creating mood boards is key, and preparation is the reason for my success, growth and development.

Do you have any tips for competitors in our other competitions across South Africa?

Always follow the rules and regulation when entering a competition

• Create mood boards

• Choose models correctly because model's are 70% of your marking

• Train your models beforehand in all aspects from passing hair accessories during styling, to posture

• Find models with great hair to suit the look

• Have fun while doing your best

• Win or lose, the experience is phenomenal

How long have you been in the industry?

I've been in the industry for four years. My passion leads towards colour. I enjoy the challenge of perfecting shades and creating new shades. The real treat is creating that perfect colour for my clients. You need to know your colour wheel, once you know this off by heart fixing , making and creating colours are magical.

Is there anyone you would like to thank or mention?

I would like to thank Ezra Isaacs for opening doors and creating opportunities for me as well as her endless support and sponsorship. Secondly , to my family for their undying faith and support throughout my experiences , lastly to my partner for his strong belief in me and my abilities , to achieve the goals I have set for myself.
