Industry icons Volker and Carla Gast have had a well established salon, Style for Hair, in Paarl for 20 years.
They recently decided it was time to make a move and head for the relaxed lifestyle of Stillbaai where Carla spent her childhood years. “After lockdown our salon had two months of exceptional turnover, so we decided after our rent contract expired, to just close the shop, move the business to Stilbaai, and restart our new life!”
With working from home becoming the norm, Volker has seen there are many new young entrepreneurs relocating to this stunning town of 9,000 people. It was very special to Volker and Carla that Dan Smit from Wella, who was there for the very first opening of their Wellington shop in 1992, came out of retirement to be there again for this salon opening.
Style for Hair is aiming to prove to their salon software partner, ESP, that even in a small town a salon can do just as well as when it is located in a busier mall within a bigger town!
