Chase Meakin: L'Oréal Professionnel International Ambassador Wows Industry in Pakistan

Chase Meakin, owner of Chase Hairdressing in Mulbarton, Jhb, has been a L’Oréal Professionnel international ambassador for more than a decade. He recently travelled to Pakistan to hold Masterclasses in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. These sold-out events were hugely popular and well received.

“It was an amazing experience going to Pakistan. I didn’t know what to expect, but was so impressed by the friendliness of the people and also by the security that is present in the country. Having been through difficult times they are now very focused on maintaining a peaceful environment and promoting tourism. I was extremely well looked after and felt totally safe there. As a country they are very united, very caring, with happy people and a sense of harmony.”

“The surprising thing about Pakistan is that they have no beauty schools. Not one in the whole country. As a result there is a huge hunger for education and I found hairstylists to be extremely appreciative, humble and willing to learn. my seminars were sold out within days. Every technique I showed the hairstylists there was appreciated and valued. With a shortage of available education, they rely a lot on social media to source their learning and information, and this is huge in Pakistan.”

“I showed both cutting and colour to the hairstylists – as in South Africa, they do both cuts and colour and don’t specialise in one or the other. Being a nation of dark haired people, their main request is of course to create blondes! We all want the hair we don’t have. What makes it more challenging in Pakistan is that because the country is extremely hot, with temperatures up to 50 degrees and higher, everywhere is air conditioned to cool temperatures and this actually makes it more challenging for blondes to lift. A bit of natural heat, such as we get here, goes a long way to help!

There are some exquisite, ultra-modern salons there, and the L’Oréal technical centre is one of the best I have seen anywhere in the world. There is a lot of wealth and opportunity in the country – it is a fascinating place.

“Being a L’Oréal Professionnel international ambassador is an amazing experience that has opened so many doors and created so many career opportunities for me. It is an incredible brand that offers so many prospects to ambitious hairstylists.

Mazia Arif - LP Education Manager, Pakistan, says, “I am writing this email to say Thank you from me and my team for the great five days of Master classes in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The salons who have attended have learned and enjoyed so much from your training, Training was very informative and very well presented, and we are looking forward to seeing you in future to learn more from you.”
