Reaching Our Communities; Impacting Our World With Global Citizen

In the last few years, I have become passionate about community causes; especially those that support women and children. That’s why in June this year, Modern Hair & Beauty committed itself to financially contributing to an organisation in our community - the community in which we operate our business. The organisation is called Tehilla Community Collective and amongst other things they house abused women, run a day care service for children within the community, and provide shelter for the destitute.

Becoming involved in this community project has made me even more aware of other projects to which Modern Hair & Beauty can contribute. That is why when Coty contacted us about their partnership with Global Citizen - an organisation aiming to eradicate extreme poverty in the world by focusing on causes like Girls and Women, Environment, Food and Hunger, and Education – I was more than happy to lend my support. For those who are not aware of what our connection is with Coty, we are the South African distributor of Coty Professional Beauty brands Wella Professionals, Kadus Professional, Nioxin and others. Coty partnered with Global Citizen to create a world free from prejudice and discrimination by challenging the norms, stereotypes and unequal policies and laws that don’t deliver for all.

Global Citizen asks individuals and businesses to sign up and spread information about causes, sign petitions and in so doing raise awareness amongst the world population and move world leaders to action. On the 2nd of December, this year, Global Citizen in partnership with the Mandela 100 Foundation, will host a benefit concert to raise awareness and inspire citizens to be the generation of change. International acts like Jay- Z, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and Pharrell Williams together with local artists will perform at the show being held at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Chris Stofberg - MD of Modern Hair & Beauty, explains the Global Citizen campaign and how hairstylists can win tickets to the Mandela 100 Global Citizen Concert on 2 December.

To show our solidarity with Coty and Global Citizen; and to offer you a chance to attend the benefit and share your own stories of impact, we would like to extend an invitation to earn one of eight sets of double tickets.

If you are a hair industry professional, and you would like to take part you need to do the following:
