New Season's Hair Trends for Men

Nothing better to motivate yourself than changing up your haircut. From the modern textured crop to the old money slick back, here are my top trends for the next season.

Modern Textured Crop

This choppy cut features point-cut layers on top with a soft forward or micro-fringe, paired with a low or mid taper fade rather than a harsh skin fade. The sideburn and neckline transition soft and gradual, offering a more refined finish and the messy, tousled top gives maximum natural volume and a casual, relaxed look. Work a small amount of matte clay or paste into damp or dry hair, pushing the hair forward towards the forehead for the best styling results. I recommend visiting the barber ever 2-4 weeks to keep the skin fade or taper looking fresh and clean.

The Softer Mullet

The soft mullet trades harsh lines and shaved skin for gentle side tapers, textured layers and a subtle, flowing back. It looks effortless and works well with most hair types including straight, wavy and curly. Instead of a hard skin fade, the sides use a soft scissor cut or gentle taper that blends into the temples. Heavy weight is removed with point-cutting or a razor, so the fringe and crown sit light and messy rather than stiff. Apply a lightweight, volumising product such as a sea salt spray and scrunch for maximised results.

Flowy Middle Part/ Curtains

A flowy middle parting works best for those with medium-length hair. It is parted down the middle with soft layers that sweep back and frame the face. It creates a relaxed, textured look with natural movement and volume, falling around the ears and eyes without any stiff or sharp lines. This style works great on straight, wavy or lightly curly hair that has enough length with the soft layers removing heavy weight so the hair moves freely instead of looking flat. Use a small amount of light styling cream and comb through with your fingers to lock in the flexible hold.

Old Money Slick Back

This timeless style is making its return for the colder months, working especially well for all the celebrations these months hold. Instead of a harsh fade, the sides are softly blended. I recommend having around three inches of hair on top, allowing it to sweep back with movement rather than sticking flat to the scalp. This effortless style looks intentional and polished without feeling over-styled.
