EOHCB Meet the Team: Chloe Coombe - Industrial Relations Officer Eastern Cape

As the Industrial Relations Officer responsible for the Eastern Cape region at the EOHCB, I bring a comprehensive understanding of the Human Resources (HR) lifecycle, backed by nearly four years of hands-on experience in the field. My professional journey commenced as a receptionist at a prestigious beauty salon in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).

Subsequently, I transitioned to the construction industry, where my career in HR began to take shape. After a tenure of two and a half years in construction, I returned to the beauty industry, this time focusing on my passion for HR management. Alongside my professional roles, I have pursued ongoing education in HR through various short courses while concurrently pursuing a degree in HR Management.

Since joining the EOHCB as a Industrial Relations Officer for the Eastern Cape Division in May 2023, I have been dedicated to expanding my skill set within the realm of labour relations. As I approach my one-year anniversary with the organisation, I have had the privilege of engaging with a majority of our members in the Eastern Cape. Following a brief hiatus for maternity leave, I am now resuming my efforts to connect with each member personally. Although this is my first experience within an Employer’s Organisation, my diverse background in HR enables me to contribute significantly to our team and, consequently, to the benefit of our members.

Chloe encourages an Employer and or Legal Owner to become a member of the EOHCB because:

Membership to an Employers' Organisation offers numerous advantages, including collective bargaining and regulatory support for industrial relations. However, affiliation with the EOHCB provides an extensive array of tailored services to support your business needs. These services encompass labour relations assistance, policy development and implementation, contract drafting, disciplinary code formulation, lease agreement guidance, provision of independent hearing chairpersons, performance management facilitation, and consultation support for matters such as short-time arrangements and retrenchment procedures.

By partnering with the EOHCB, you gain access to a wealth of resources and expertise to navigate labour-related challenges effectively, allowing you to focus on the core operations of your business with confidence and peace of mind.
