HBSI: Pension Funds Act
Employers are reminded of their legal duty to ensure that pension contributions are deducted and paid in full, and to provide the HBSI Fund with details of the Responsible Person in their entities. A failure to comply may lead to personal liability for the payment of the outstanding contributions.
Employers should also take note that earlier this year, the Minister of Employment and Labour withdrew the Section 34A Basic Conditions of Employment Act Exemption regarding Retirement Fund contributions. See Verbatim 124 (published by VERSO, the HBSI Administrator) for more details on what this means for Employers. Verbatim 124.cdr
One of the consequences of the withdrawal is that, in addition to the powers of the Fund (under the Pension Funds Act) and the Designated Agents of the Council (under the Labour Relations Act), to enforce compliance, Inspectors of the Department of Employment & Labour will also have the power to investigate and enforce compliance.
Salon Codes & Names for Council Correspondence & Payments
Establishments are reminded to include their Name and Salon Code (SAL No.) in all correspondence with the Council, and most importantly, the SAL No. as a reference for any payments made to the Council.
Please consult the Council’s WEBSITE for the contact details of Agents in your area.
