German haute-couture designer Karl Lagerfeld, artistic director at Chanel and a global fashion icon for more than 50 years, has died at the age of 85. Karl had headed Chanel’s creative team since 1983 and had been designing for Fendi since 1965, as well as designing collections for his own brand. Karl died in Paris on Tuesday 19 February after being rushed to hospital the previous night.
