May 1st - It's the moment you've been waiting for!

The L’Oréal Style & Colour Trophy 2022 entries are open on 1 May. The competition is open to all pros, featuring the talent, style and creativity of the world of hairdressing. Here's all the info on the theme and how to enter!

The 2022 L’Oréal Professionnel Paris’ legendary pro competition “Style & Colour Trophy” goes further: more candidates & more countries.

In 2022, all candidates will compete on 1 theme “FRENCH EDITO” to become the Winner of the global pro hair competition.

The contest, open to all pros, makes them shine like never before while exposing new trends. To seek a wider audience, candidates are invited to post their preselection grid on Instagram. Both pros and hair lovers can support their champion and vote online for their favourite look.

This year, the competition has expanded to include new countries representing all continents, showcasing more pros, more expertise and more hair diversity.

For the pros, French Edito is the opportunity to create their fashion magazine cover image:

celebrate and revel in hair beauty

embrace the latest color trends (French Balayage or French Glossing) and styling trends

the best styling complements

and the perfect color work.

We are confident that this theme will bring as much as excitement than the 2021 edition gathered. The 2021 SCTrophy Grand Finale gathered 8 million views on YouTube.

How to compete?

Anyone among the 7 million hairdressers in the world can compete, by registering online on styleandcolourtrophy.lorealprofessionnel.com, and go through the 3 phases of the competition: online preselection, national finale and global finale.

Step 1:

Post 6 images of a model translating your own interpretation of a French Edito look between 01/05/2022 and 30/06/2022 on SCT webplatform. Candidates are also invited to share their looks on Instagram to increase their visibility and get support from their communities. 6 finalists will then be selected for each national finale.

Step 3:

Enter the Globale Grand Finale, and shine on a global stage. The 6 best national winners will compete to become the SCTrophy Grand Winner, 2nd Place Winner or 3rd Place Winner, and maybe the Audience Award winner as well. The global finale will be broadcasted online. Stay tuned for more!

SCTrophy Overview

In its ongoing effort to elevate pro hair talents on the world stage, L’Oréal Professionnel Paris hosts its legendary hair pro competition, Style & Colour Trophy, opening up more communities beyond the hair industry for the second time around.

Launched in 1954, Style & Colour Trophy is the longest-running hair competition in the world. Celebrating the creativity and skills of hair artistry, the contest brings incredible excitement and energy to the industry, inspiring hairdressers around the world to strive to push the limits of what is possible not only in the salon, but on the world stage.

2021 marked the digitalization of the contest as the # SCTrophy gathered around 10,000 posts worldwide. The first digital edition counted 22,500 candidates representing 30 countries. After the national phase of the competition, each national winner entered the global semi-final, and the 9 best of them moved on to take part in the Global Grand Finale — Australia, Canada, France, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia and the United States.

The Global Grand Finale of Style & Colour Trophy 2021 was showcased in a special episode of Run Le Hair Show, the international web series by pros, for pros and all hair lovers. The episode was entirely dedicated to the legendary contest, expanding on the show’s primary purpose, to shine an even brighter spotlight on some of the most talented hairstylists in the world today.

The global audience - not only among the finalists’ countries - got to witness the jury comments on all aspects of skills, artistry, and execution of the global finalists.

Eventually, we watched Massimo Tirimacco become SCTrophy Grand Winner 2021. Kevins Kyle Lambert, Canada wins the SCTrophy second place award and Erica Keelen, USA becomes the SCTrophy 3rd place award winner.

The audience award winner got chosen by the general public through the online voting platform, and elected Irina Bykovskaya, from Russia. Warm congrats to the 4 of them!
