Q: What is the biggest benefit of online education at this time?
A: Our online education is hugely beneficial for all stylists because they can do it in the comfort of their own home and in their own time. As soon as they have completed their online education, they are open to purchase. We only supply certified salons so the sooner they become certified, the sooner they can start reaping the rewards of offering extensions in their salon. The profit margins on our extensions are high and for us its about working smarter, not harder. It takes 15 – 20 minutes to install one box of easihair pro. No other service offers that kind of money for such a short space of time.
Q: How did your company change its focus on education after the onset of Covid-19?
A: We have always offered online training and we made it complimentary last year. We saw a dramatic increase in numbers participating in our online course and this has continued after the lockdown has eased as there is no barrier for a stylist to come on board. We commit to making sure our stylists feel confident and if needed, we will always make a plan to do some sort of hands-on training or invite them to one of our in salon courses.
Q: What aspects of your online education do you feel are most powerful?
A: The videos are really informative, quick and to the point. The fact that the person narrating and demonstrating the education is a top easihair pro professional makes a huge difference as she knows and believes in her brand. The videos are easy to follow and work in conjunction with the manual so if you have to stop and start again, its easy to pick up exactly where you left off or repeat certain chapters if you have forgotten something down the line.

Q: What is the biggest benefit of online education at this time?
A: Not only is online training safe during the COVID_19 Lockdown, but most importantly training can, at the click of a button, be amended and kept current as and when new information is communicated by international suppliers. Our brand prides itself to launch and update the Milkshake range on a continuous basis in line with customer requirements and market trends, i.e. the 9 minute permanent colour to save time in salons, which necessitates our training to be up to date at all times.
Q: What aspects of your online education do you feel are most powerful?
A: Safety as lockdown regulations are being respected and adhered to, Cost saving as no travel time is involved from salons to training venues, Time saving as stylists and owners can schedule training in between clients, current information as training content can be amended as and when necessary, use of technology to make training interventions interesting
Q: In what areas do you feel your education empowers hairdressers the most?
A: The Milkshake brand in South Africa is supported by highly skilled and internationally trained and educated Technical Educators who loves to share their knowledge with potential and/or current salon owners. Our supplier in Italy publish fantastic training and educational videos, not only for product knowledge, but most importantly, professional technical knowledge i.e. cutting and colouring.

Q: What aspects of your online education do you feel are most powerful?
A: Apart from each individual brand doing their own online and social education, what sets us apart is the follow up to such sessions via LOREAL ACCESS. Not only are you able to receive snackable content on each of our brands, you can engage in quick fun learning that is internationally certified!, this absolutely sets us apart!, the tutorials are fun and fast and we have a very diverse catalogue to choose from.
Q: What feedback have you had from your online education?
A: You can never replace the in salon one on one experience, but in these trying times we and our clients have become flexible and our clients are seeing the added value about having the ability to educate themselves in their own time and in the comfort of their own homes. They are loving the flexibility.
Q: In your opinion, what is the biggest positive effect of education for the industry?
A: Education bring trust, excitement and empowerment to stylists all around the world without education our clients would be at a disadvantage, everyone knows that knowledge is power and with knowledge comes confidence and confidence breeds success!

Our Dedicated Weekly Lives are every Monday @19h00 on Instagram, and every 2nd week we have a dual live with a Guest Artist. Every other week we have an Educator that focus on specific brands and new launches.
Education Hotline: We have created an Educational Hotline for each region. This is very successful , especially for the areas that are not fortunate enough to have educators.
Our Online classes are about to launch! These will only allow 12 participants per session and it will be free of charge. Each class will be focussed on practical and theory and will include colour and best suited retail for that specific training topic.
Q: Why should education be ongoing and what is the importance of this?
A: Education is the key to success and applied knowledge is power. Trends are forever changing, and it is important to be updated on a regular basis through in-salon and online education. Education is more than just teaching a hairdresser how the products works or how to mix and apply it. Education enables you to turn a tube of colour into profit, while at the same time changing your client’s appearance and most likely their self-esteem. The combination of this, is what makes successful as stylists.
Q: How did your company change its focus on education after the onset of Covid-19?
A: We had to change our approach toward Education 360 degrees. Face to Face became Digital. We started the process by upskilling our team of educators. This was a substantial investment in time and effort but well worth it. We implemented weekly Lives with Guest Artists and activities like Monday Motivation, Tuesday Tips, Formula Fridays, and Friday Quizzes. We are currently working on a Free Online Seminar offering, and have created an Educational Hotline for all regions in South Africa and offer all education via Virtual Zoom Sessions upon request.
Q: What feedback have you had from your online education?
A: The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive- we have engaged with so many new stylists and salons that reach out to us through these platforms. The reality of this is that the whole world is taking on this new normal of experiencing online platforms for education and information. These changes must be adapted if we want to be successful. The key is not the brand that you offer but the and support that you deliver after the sale has taken place.

ESP has had the privilege of working with many giants of the hair and beauty industry and through this we have become custodians of best business practice. During the lockdown we decided that it was our opportunity to bring the industry together, via the Collective Corporation, and give back in a meaningful way by disseminating this knowledge and providing a platform for people to share ideas for the collective benefit of all business owners. Essentially the "rules of engagement" for business abnormal. This is something that could not have been attempted at any other time.
We embarked upon daily open webinar forums dealing with business modelling, stock control, loyalty schemes, client and staff management, HR frameworks, payroll, Effective Schedule management to name a few. All of these webinars were recorded and what resulted is a library with a wealth of information and advice which has been made available free of charge to everyone via the ESP Solution Centre.
