Lovers of edginess will be delighted to know that a key trend in bridal this year is Punk Bride. Jenn Linton and Jay Macdonald, directors of the UK salon group Linton & Mac, identified this trend on bridal catwalks. Here’s some advice on how to create it in salon:
Punky styles – mohawks, twists, spikes, extreme volume – have previously had no place at the altar, however Naeem Khan’s SS19 show was walked by models that accessorised their wedding dresses with fierce-looking faux-hawks, together with smoky, kohl-lined eyes and glam molten lips. The trick to successfully pulling off a punk-rock bridal style is to maintain some gentler, more feminine elements – keep the texture soft, with no visible product, and ensure the crown of the head is pristinely neat. And ensure your client wears it with heaps of confidence. Because, let’s face it, who says bridal styles have to be safe?
